“THE SCOTTISH GLOBETROTTERS”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

Stayed in this hotel last weekend at the end of the Cannes Film Festival. The resort was very busy and we had booked well in advance as part of a package to see the Monaco Grand Prix.
The hotel is well situated overlooking the Marina or out to the Med. We had a deluxe sea view room on the second floor with a very small balcony overlooking the marina. The room was quite small and a bit noisy at night with all the visitors walking past. The hotel has been updated from the original building but the conversion has left the rooms small and with little wardrobe space. O.K. for an overnight stay but not if you are staying longer, and there was very little storage space First encounter with an automatic bidet in the bathroom . DIFFERENT! The paintwork in the room was in need of
re-doing as it was chipped and looking a bit shabby. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide selection from the display. We did not eat any other meals in the hotel as there were numerous restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel which gave better value for money.
Would stay again for the location but would prefer a larger room for the money.

Room Tip: Choose a high level room with a marina view.

Excellent Hotel. Nice rooms with plenty of cupboard space, welcoming staff, good location for the harbour area and good food.
The roof top bar could be made more comfortable. It was cold and draughty when I was there.

This hotel is to the side of the harbour, right on the water-front, and very well located for the bars, clubs, casino etc. of Cannes, also within walking distance of the train station.

Key thing for me was some outside space, and this hotel has a lovely roof-top lounge area that catches the sun the entire day, yet is quiet and secluded. Also, it's sheltered from the wind by its glass sides, thus handy on a windy day. Great place to lounge around, enjoying a drink and the view of the stunning sea.

The spa is also really good, and allows use of the facilities for those not enjoying treatments - huge pool (indoor / outdoor mix), plenty of space to lounge around, relaxation room, sauna, jacuzzi etc.

The hotel reception was good, free wifi throughout, concierge helped us when required. All in all, a good choice of hotel for a visit to Cannes

Room Tip: Basic rooms are very small, so an upgrade is well worth negotiating

I was looking for 2 last minute rooms during the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. An impossible task. "Radisson it is!" I said to myself. I was expecting a tired, sad looking, run down chain establishment, and figured the events would make up for it. Once insured availability, I decided to handle the booking over the phone, to minimize any painful experience upon arrival. From the first interaction, staff was beyond kind and helpful. Upon arrival we discovered a newly renovated, lovely, bright, wonderfully positioned, modern, sleek designed and beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms are not big, but well thought, appointed to the tilt to fit everything, and very comfortable. They are clean and new. The bathroom is lovely. We were happy to be here! We did not sigh, as you do when you resign to having to cope. The next day we had brunch cocktails on the 7th floor terrace and had another amazing surprise: a 360 degrees teak wood terrace overlooking Cannes, with chaise long, cushions and lots of sun. Breath taking views over the French Riviera and the City. Staff was once again flexible with all our needs and extremely kind. I will certainly be back here next time. If anybody is very involved with the festival activities, make sure you have a driver on call, not because it is far, but because you do not want to be walking on long dresses and high hills, but I would certainly recommed this hotel over most of the others in Cannes! Well done everybody at Radisson Blue.

When we decided on visiting Côte d'Azur, we looked at hotels all around and decided that we wanted to stay in Cannes. While we appreciate luxury, we don't have unlimited funds like many of the yacht owners in the marina's so we chose a hotel that fit our style of stay, and looked like it had a good location. This happened to be the Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel & Thalasso.

From the internet and across the world, it was hard to decide on a hotel, but we generally like staying at clean, modern properties like the W hotel, and the pictures and location of the Radisson seemed to really fit our requirements. As Radisson's aren't really impressive here in the US, I was very pleasantly surprised by our stay here at the Radisson Blu.

We took the train from Nice and could have walked to the hotel, but with luggage in tow, it was easier to take a taxi. It was about 10 euros to the hotel from the Cannes train station. When we checked in, we were upgraded from standard to the next level room which gave us a balcony with a garden and partial ocean view. Wi-fi was free, and upon check-in we received a welcome gift of champagne and macaron's from Laduree. It was a very nice, unexpected, touch. The room was actually quite nice, but very small. They do make use of space very well, and have a decent amount of storage, but it almost felt as if I was in a cruise ship room at times. The bathroom was large. The only knock on the room was the size and that the walls were a bit thin. Either that, or our neighbors were very loud - we could clearly tell that they were on their honeymoon if you know what I mean ;) We didn't hear other conversations or anything else, so it may have just been a very loud neighbor.

The one thing that was an unexpected negative was that I did not catch that the pool and spa were not actually part of the hotel, and for most guests, would cost 25euro per room, per day, for use of the facilities. The facilities are actually connected to the hotel via hallways accessed through a separate elevator in the lobby area, and felt a little like a maze. While the 25 euros was steep, the spa was really worth it for us. The indoor/outdoor combination pool was saltwater (VERY salty), and the sauna, steam room, relaxation rooms were heavenly. They provided slippers, bags, lockers, towels - everything you need, and it was a very relaxing way to unwind and rest our feet after walking a lot. To us, it was worth it - depends on how much you want to take advantage of the facilities.

The location of the hotel was great. Right on the edge of the waterfront, and across from the ferry landings, you can easily just walk across the street and take a ferry to the nearby islands. Down the street is the downtown area with all the restaurants and a little farther down the waterfront is the Casino and the high end shopping. The train station is within a 10-15 minute walk through beautiful backstreets filled with shops and more restaurants. There is a lot of walking that can be done - but then again that's pretty much everywhere in Europe, right? Where better to do it than looking at the magnificent yachts that line the marina, and the beautiful beaches of the French Riviera.

We didn't eat at the hotel so can't review the restaurant, but it was on the rooftop with a view overlooking the Marina. Very picturesque.

Overall, I really enjoyed our stay here. Staying in Cannes was a great experience and I would gladly do it again. I recommend the Radisson Blu and thought it was a great deal in comparison to other similar hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view - of anything. I can't imagine what a standard room without a gard...

Having done quite a bit of research on hotels in Cannes we settled on the Radisson Blu 1885. I was a little hesitant as it was rated at No. 26 of Hotels in Cannes on Tripadvisor but I needn't have worried. We took the train from Nice to Cannes and the hotel is a lovely 5 minute walk from the station. The hotel is situated on the corner of the Marina ,with views looking back at the Croisette , the Palais and the sea , which are absolutely amazing. Our room was a good size with a separate bathroom and shower , with a very fancy Japanese toilet (with a washer dryer ! ). Our room had a double balcony with unbelievable views over the marina. There is bottled water and a great Nespresso machine. We made use of the impressive spa with salt water pool , Hammam , steam room etc. ( for non residents this costs minimum €90 massage price). The pool has amazing views across the bay to Frejus. The rooftop terrace again has amazing views , probably the best in Cannes. Staff were superb and have us great restaurant advice and were really helpful at all times. This really is a 5 star hotel in every way.

We had an excellent stay at the Radisson Blu Cannes, Excellent room with a sea view, service and standards excellent and value for money. The spa is of a very high standard with an outdoor terrace with a beautiful sea view. I would certainly return and recommend this hotel for leisure and for business.
