There were roadworks outside so the location wasn't the nicest looking and the bus to and from the airport doesn't stop outside due to the roadworks, but it's an easy 10 min walk from the bus if you have a map. Everything is in a 10min walking distance - old town, beach, shops. Hotel itself was small but charming. The staff were lovely and most helpful with restaurant recommendations and bookings. We ate amazing French food in lovely locations, all down to their advise. When asked about island trips they advised us and gave their opinions on the surrounding islands and we had a fantastic day out due to this. The rooms were small but very clean and well kept, and we didn't need a lot of space as we were only in the room to get ready before going out again. The pillow was too high for me so I slept without one - an option of thick and thin pillows would be nice - I know it's a fussy comment but no one likes a sore neck! Breakfast was naughty but nice (lots of pastries and cakes - my favourite). The open bar was great - it's between 6pm and 9pm - dinner time/getting ready for dinner time, but if you can catch it before you go out it's lovely. The complimentary mini food plates here were a nice touch, very tasty. The only thing that annoyed me was the rules with the private beach - we were not told them, meaning that on our last day we got moved from the front by the sea to the very back and told that we hadn't reserved and couldn't sit anywhere we wanted - this information would have been great had it have come at the start of the holiday and preferably from the hotel, who we had booked the private beach through. Also it was a bit all-deck-chairs-lined-up-like-sardines which I usually hate, but it was very clean and the sea was lovely so it was forgivable.

My wife and I visited the Hotel Le Cavendish, for a four night break. From the moment of our arrival, we were impressed. The front of house staff, were brilliant. Describing Cannes to us, where to go and where to eat. This came along with a good beer and a nice glass of wine.
Our room was just what we needed. Chilled by the air con and size plenty big enough for the two of us. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room very clean.
Though on the first floor and above the road, our accommodation was silent.
We were particularly impressed with the open bar. So very nice to start your evening with a drink.
Again the breakfast in the morning was lovely. Just the start for a day exploring the Cote D'Azur.
We took advantage of the beach access. The walk from the hotel to the sea takes about 10 minutes. No problem for us. We enjoyed wandering through the town on the way down and making a slow return via one of the many bars.
We have visited many excellent hotels the Hotel Le Cavendish was something else and is up with the best. The rooms, the service, the food; everything was outstanding and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and always there when you needed them.

The Cavendish certainly puts a lot of effort into their service by providing very friendly and helpful staff. The staff take a lot of time in explaining the attractions, recommending places to visit and eat and make you feel very special which is unlike any other hotel we've ever stayed at. Special requests for irons, power adapters and soft boiled eggs for breakfast were all attended to quickly.

The hotel itself is in a very central position, walking distance to the beach front and the old town, but given the current roadworks and busy intersection (can't be heard from the room) not exactly the most pleasant area in Cannes.

Our superior room was clean and nice, but the decor felt somewhat tired and not as high end as we had expected (carpet and bathroom in particular, no furniture on our balcony), the room colour was also quite dark, but it seems that each room has a different colour scheme, and from the pictures on trip advisor some other rooms might have better colour schemes and decorations.

The free open bar in the evening is a very nice idea, the free beach towels were very useful but the private beach was rather disappointing (lots of chairs close to each other, if you didn't book in advance you were delegated to the worst seats that consisted of mattresses on the ground without a proper chair) - so we opted for getting our own umbrella instead and explored some of the nicer beaches outside of Cannes that are free.

The breakfast has many options of good quality, although eggs are only hard boiled and not many options available for gluten or lactose intolerant people.

We stayed a total of 9 nights there and used it as a base to explore the French Riviera by scooter which we thoroughly enjoyed, although would probably stay at a more quiet and secluded location next time.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Cavendish and would recommend it for short stays in Cannes.

Dear Guests,

Many thanks for your kind comment.

As you explain, the roadworks cannot be heard inside the hotel and will make a lot of improvement on the surroundings once completed. I even added in Trip Advisor pictures the one where you can see the square totally finished. This looks beautiful. Anyway as of today, the main entrance of the hotel is re opened and the square in front of the hotel is completed.

As far as the beach is concerned, I am really surprised as the best places are the ones on mattresses on the first row in front of the sea. We reserve sunbeds for our clients in the morning but you must understand that after 1pm, the beach supervisor in case of noshow of our customers is allowed to reallocate the sunbeds. If you arrived later, I suppose he did his best to propose you the mattresses on the first row

I hope we will be able to welcome you back in Cannes and will be more than happy to extend a special welcome to all our guests who experienced the roadworks.

Yours sincerely

We have stayed here on 3 previous occasions and this one was as good as it always has been. It is a comfortable stylish French hotel that works hard to ensure its guests are very well looked after. The reception and portering staff are brilliant and will do anything for you to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Well done the owner who takes a personal interest in ensuring that the guests have a super time. We'll be back as usual next year for our fix of great service, comfort and style. The roadworks were a necessity and will greatly improve the flow of traffic to and around the hotel. The owner is right, you couldn't hear them in the hotel.

Dear Guests,

Just one word : THANK YOU.

Will be pleased to welcome you back next year and let you discover the new Boulevard Carnot. I just got from the city the picture of the new sqaure in front of the hotel which I put on Trip Advisor on the hotel pictures. If you want to have a look.

I will also make sure that the customers who stayed with us during this difficult time will be specially pampered during their next stay with us .

See you in Cannes at your favourite place,

Arrived early afternoon after a long drive from Florence and received a very warm welcome and a beer!
The lady on reception was everything a receptionist should be, welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful. We were upgraded to a rotunda room with a balcony which we couldn't use to its full advantage due to the roadworks which should now be finished.
The free bar in the evening is a great idea and very popular and the breakfast provide a good choice with a great range of teas and coffees.
The promenade/beaches/and restaurants are a 10 to 15 minute walk away and there are good restaurants in the area.
We will return!!

Room Tip: Rotunda rooms if not on a tight budget

My fiancé and I spent 7 nights here on the first week of our trip to Cannes. This was our first trip to Cannes and so were unsure about where to stay and saw that this hotel was the number one on trip advisor, yet was reasonable priced and still available!(even though we only booked a few weeks before travelling). We had a feeling that the free bar every night might have been the main reason for its ranking but decided to go ahead and book.
From the moment we arrived in Le Cavendish we immediately fell in love with the place. Our bags were taken from us by the porter Ralph (our favourite member of staff) and we were seated at reception and offered any drink we wanted. The receptionist sat with us for 10-15min discussing the service the hotel offered and what to do and see in Cannes. We were taken to our room via the lift which is original one of the quirkiest features of the hotel and feels like something from Moulin Rouge!
Our room was on the fourth floor and had a balcony with beautiful views over the rooftops in Cannes. The room was simple but perfect with everything we needed and a very comfy bed!
Breakfast every morning was perfect, a spread of croissants, fresh fruit, breads, meat and cheeses (we esp loved the local honey)
The bar was free every night...with no catch!I know sounds crazy, all spirits mixers wine, crisps nuts and cheeses, most didn't take advantage having only a few glasses of wine before heading for dinner, others downed as many as they could in 3 hours!!Other quirky little features are that we were given fresh towels for the beach every day and on the one night rain threatened we were handed a brolly on the way out.
Le Cavendish is comfortable, clean and a traditional French hotel which felt like we were at home in Cannes. It is perfectly located just back from the port within walking distance of the Beach, Old town and restaurants.
The real reason this hotel is such a gem is due to the incredible staff. Not alone are they polite and helpful but they are very friendly without being imposing. Their personal touch is exceptional reserving dinner for us, providing info on day trips and other tips on what to do and where to go. Thank you Le Cavendish for making our stay in Cannes perfect we hope to be back!:)

From the moment you park outside the front, Le Cavendish takes you under their wing and makes sure you have the perfect experience. This is a 4 star boutique style hotel with a 5 star touch in terms of service and more than 5 star in terms of caring for you and making your stay something special to remember.

When we arrived, the porter came out, took our cases and then took our car as valet to the parking garage. The reception is not as a normal hotel in that you are sat down in comfy couches, given a drink of whatever you want and then they run through with you your details and your aspirations for your time in Cannes. Whether that be about places to visit or restaurants, they will arrange and book for you and you just have that sense of being part of the family from that first moment. The hotel is perfectly located, in the centre, just a 5 minute walk from the Croisette beach and the festival hall, 15 mins from the old city and a too close walk to the main shopping street. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and perfectly decorated in terms of elegant Villeroy and Boch bathroom and old world drapes and bedding. If you want to spoil yourself a little, book one of the rotunda rooms with terrace.

One of the special and unique features of the hotel is the open bar which runs from 6pm to 9pm each day. Its a chance to relax and chill before heading out for the evening, but also to meet with other guests and share experiences. We met many people from other countries and a common theme was our collective positive experience. As one guest compared to his last time in Cannes staying at the famous Carlton Intercontinental, this was such a better place to stay.

I guess that last comment sums it up, you can go for stars, you can pay more, but you will find it hard to better the experience and service at Le Cavendish. Thanks to all of the staff who made our stay so special!!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the Rotunda,,, you wont be sorry !!

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for this superb comment . I think you are describing perfectly well the hotel and we should use this text for our sales brochures :)
As you say, we are trying hard to make customers happy and all our staff is fully dedicated to guest satisfaction.
You are totally right : you can always go for more stars but service is the basis of our hospitality industry.

Looking forward to welcoming you back,
Very kind regards
Christine WELTER
