Very pretty and charming. Avoid it after 7pm because everything is closed.

“Ali Baba and the 40 thieves”
Reviewed June 1, 2012

Too busy for my taste, which is why it has become a sanctuary for pick pockets and thieves of all brands. And since the last food and vegetable shops closed down because of too high rents, this narrow street has turned into a souk full of fly-by-night shops exhibiting T-shirts and other banalities. Also some traiteurs had to be warned by the city's food inspectors. There is one exception though : A boutique type, half shop but with tables, run by a charming young Spanish-French lady called Christine, specialized in Spanish ham and wines. Because when it comes to "Jamon", the smoked ham which is finely scraped from a special squeezer as found in all the bars of Seville, you can forget Parma ham and Jambon de Bayonne. They are left way behind the Spanish Pata Nera, from the black Jabugo Pig, which roams around free, feeding on broad beans in the high oak woods above Ayamonte by the Portuguese border . Not too many French clients, though, who find it a bit high priced since the Lower Manhatten crowd also discovered Spanish ham and went crazy for it. But many of them come round from the cruise ships, deligted to find only minutes away from the landing such treasures at our prices to be tasted by a small road side table, along with a glass of some of the best Spanish nectars which Christine will be proud to serve with soft white bread to dip into that delicious, classified squashed tomato sauce.

“A little bit of everything”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

You can find a little bit of everything in this street. If you're looking for quality and tranquillity you may want to go somewhere else, however it's nice to take a stroll and look at all the different things the shops offer. The small shops offering food are great! An extra plus for the olives stuffed with parmesan cheese...
