Excellent location, within minutes walking distance to the coach station, train station, restaurants and the beach. It is not located on the main beach promenade so a good way to save money. Having said that it would take you no more than 10 minutes to walk to the nearest beach.
Staff are very polite and friendly, didnt come across anyone who wasnt.
Views are not great because the hotel is surrounded very closely by taller buildings on all sides.
Very comfortable beds, clean, free espresso in room and breakfast included. Certain charges are outrageous eg €7 for a teabag in the room!
It does suffer slightly from snagging issues such as shower doors not shutting properly (water goes everywhere), slow running drains and missing ceiling tiles.
Wifi is free but requires constant re-logging in.
Fellow guests seem to be from all over the world, mainly affluent couples/families.
Didnt particularly see very many kids.
Pool is on the rooftop but is not heated. Gym is tiny with 1 treadmill, 1 bike and some weights.
Spa looked amazing but we didnt try it.
Overall a very enjoyable stay, would stay there again.

Hotel looks great, very chic. Location is good, but when you have to stay there for 7 nights, then its a different ball game. Disappointed by the hotel mainly due to the hotel amenities & its teething problems.

Great service by the staff. (5 star service)

Positives:
Great location. Bang in the middle of everything that you need on a holiday.
Excellent staff: Everybody is very helpful and they do try hard to make you feel comfortable.
Upgraded to a suite on check in (which was quick)
In room Wifi facility
Spacious Room
Room service for late breakfast till 11.30 am (free of charge)

Needs improvement:
2 out of 3 sinks were not working in the toilets. Had to be fixed several times
WiFi is erratic and unstable
2 TVs in the room, one remote was not working & the other you use as if a it was a magic wand
Very limited English channels on TV: Al-Jazeera, BBC only
Disturbed during sleep by doors creaking & water pipes noises
Street noise is disturbing in the mornings
No sunlight in room, kinda dingy and no view at all as there are buildings either side
Fire alarm went off twice for 15 minutes during morning time

Room Tip: Take a room on a higher floor, for the view, sunlight and to avoid street noise

We decided to stay in this hotel after reading all the great review. Hotel is very nice and the location is so centre. Everything would have been perfect if it wasnt for the housekeeping service. Empty soap and shampoo bottles were left in the bathroom and they didnt replace them. We had to request them, only to find exactly the same thing happened the next day. The housekeeping staff forgot to replace the had towels and left the dirty hand towels in the basin. We asked for the bedsheets to be replace on our second day and it was not replace (i knew this as i found the same coffee stain on the sheet).... A credit indeed for the front office and concierge staff. Very polite, friendly and kind.

We stayed in v hotel for the first time in September 2012. I was a little apprehensive that the service my be overly intrusive but the staff were all friendly and helpful without being over bearing. Our room looked over the Notre dame church and was quiet in the evening. Our only gripe was that nespresso coffee was free in the room but tea was 7 euros per tea bag. Bathroom facilities were impressive. Lovely big bath and shower and we loved the loccitane products which were replenished every day. Breakfast was available all day via room service. This was a real bonus particularly a it is so expensive to eat in Cannes. Woldvrecommend visiting Le seuchet (old quarter). Pretty and stunning restaurants along the winding street/.
Wonderful stay in five hotel. Would highly recommend for those who like understated luxury, good service and award winning pastry chef with salon De the attached to the hotel . The patisseries were mouth watering and a worknifcart in their own right.

This was my first visit to Cannes but have been to France. I was surprised at how well everyone spoke/understood English. Now as a traveler I think it's the your responsiblity to be able to comunicate but I will say this made our trip easier. First, you are a stone's throw from the Cannes train station so it's very easy to get to via train from Nice. We arrived early and our room was ready. The manager accompanied us to our room and went over everything from how to use the remote, to where things were, etc We actually got an upgrade which was quite lovely. The room was very large by European standards, well really any major cities. It also had an expansive patio/terrace which was great for morning coffee, evening cocktails. The bed was dreamy, bathroom had a huge separate shower with bench and soaking tub. It was nice that the toilet was in a separate room. The only downside was you had to walk to main bathroom to wash your hands. No biggie. Everything was a modern design which could be purchased! Cedric was the concierge most of the time we were there. He was FABULOUS! He speaks English very well and planned our excursions. One day we overslept and he graciously rearranged all our reservations to accommodate our change in plans. The main reasons I'm rating this so high is: fabulous breakfast included in room rate with made to order omelets, very quick walk to the beach, very quick walk to old Cannes, new Cannes, main drag, restaurants, train station, super helpful and friendly staff the entire visit, great rooms, sexy rooftop pool albeit small, perfect for those who love modern, sexy environments. I would stay again in a heart beat. It's definitely worth the price but I guess I would say it delivered for the price. Lastly, after walking around and seeing other properties, this is easily one of the most fabulous of the bunch! Go, you'll have a wonderful experience at Five!

Stayed here in Sep 2012 and overall found the hotel as the name suggests 5*. Perfect location 2mins from beach front, film festival, main shopping street, most bars and restuarants, 5mins from port and train station and 15mins from main harbour. The hotel staff were excellent we arrived early at 11:00 and straight away we had a drink in our hands and our cases were taken for us until the room was ready. They then asked us if we would like some breakfast as they were still serving and said they would call us when the room was ready. The breakfast was first clas they cook what you want from fresh and you then have the choice of the traditional continental breakfast. The hotel has a pool on the roof which was empty every time we went to use it and was very peaceful and relaxing. Our room was a decent size with a massive bath and shower. We could not get out of the bed it was so comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The service we recieved was probably a little bit over kill as they knock each evening and ask if you want your sheets turned down it make it easier to get into bed! We took the train from Nice airport as it runs right along the coast and has some lovely views and is only a short walk to the hotel. The spa is not great so don't expect big things of this - the gym is also rather small. Would stay here again for sure as the location, service, room, breakfast and swimming pool are perfect.

A few weeks ago, my family and I vacationed in Cannes for the first time. This was not out first European trip but it was our first Cannes adventure. We chose the hotel for a few reasons, location to the beach, shopping, restaurants and also by reputation. We were delighted immediately with the people at reception; they were friendly, and very kind to us. The rooms were elegantly styled and perfect for a 5* hotel. Great decor and overall ambience, it really is beautifully decorated. The day we spent at the pool was just perfect. We arrived on a Friday and that evening we decided to have a meal in the restaurant; while the food was great, the service was horrible. The greeter was disagreeable, her English was pretty bad and we waited a very long time for our food. The next day at breakfast we were worried that the service would be a repeat of the previous evening and to our surprise, it was fantastic. We had a friendly waiter who really helped us out and even gave us extra tips on things to do in town for visitors with children. The next day we were disappointed the same waiter wasn’t there as his replacement wasn’t as friendly or well spoken in English. I guess we should not judge our opinions on comments from other hotel visitors but it seems like the service is always behind everything else. Over all, great hotel, wonderful experience for our children and we will come back if given the opportunity.
