I am a regular business traveller to Cannes (two/three times a year for the past ten years) and discovered Hotel le Canberra on my last visit, for which I'm incredibly grateful. This is a great find, located via a discreet entrance on the Rue d'Antibes, recently rennovated to a high standard with a very contemporrary feel. Many of teh hotels in Cannes are either glorifies guesthouses or over priced and chintzy. Personally, I prefer more of a boutique contemporary style so this was right up my street.

My room (a junior suite, i think) was enormous, with a comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and large balcony overlooking the swimming pool area. Compared to the 3-14 Hotel which bills itself as the design hotel in Cannes, this place is 100% better - much cleaner, with bigger rooms and nicer communal areas.

Aside from staying in one of the 'classic' hotels in Cannes (ie Martinez, Carlton, Majestic) this is easily the best choicfe in Cannes. Whilst it lacks the luxury of direct sea views and the pool area, although very nice, isn't quite as slick as the grander hotels in town I would definitely recommend le Canberra and will definitely be returning.

This is a great boutique hotel with trendy yet functional rooms. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful. The location on Rue d'Antibes is the main shopping street that runs parallel to La Croisettes. It is about 10 minutes walk from the old town.

This hotel is right in the heart of Cannes on Antibes but it's quiet and low key. The decor was appealing (very art deco with hints of hot pink). The staff went out of their way to help us with every little thing we asked for. They were always pleasant and the room was very comfortable with a delicious bed. I slept great as the black out curtains worked perfectly.

Being expats to Cannes and having seen a wide range of local hotels over the past years, our latest 2 stays, in the Canberra, have inspired us to write this review.

With its tripple A- location, exquisite interieur, tastefully decorated faxcilities, lobby, pool and very friendly staff, from cleaning through reception, it can compete with any other hotel in Cannes, including the 'names' on and around the Croisette.

Major compliments

I stayed here last week and absolutely LOVED it! Beautifully decorated and in the most perfect location in Cannes - go out one door and you're on Rue D'Antibes and go out the other and you're almost on La Croissette, stunning. The staff were the friendliest I've come across in a hotel for a very long time and I can't wait to go back next year! September is the perfect time to visit Cannes - 28-30degrees and less tourists!

Loved this hotel so much, loved the decor, the location is fantastic, it's right on the main shopping street but the pool is at the back and more private than you would think. IThe pool is smaller than it looks on the hotel website though but certainly adequate for a little dip to cool down. We had lunch in the hotel one day and it was delightful, I had the nicest salad (the goats cheese one) I've ever eaten and yummy maccaroons afterwards. Our room was lovely with an impressively big bed (we had a traditional room), I'm going to sound like such a girl here and say the curtains were so pretty and the pink lit bathroom elicited a squeal of delight from moi! The hotels not too girly though as it's all mostly black and pale grey with very clean lines. I would not only recommend this to a friend I would stay here again myself. Fabulous dahling. :)

we stayed in Hotel Le Canberra for four nights in early Sept 09. the location is fantastic, right on the main shopping st (rue antibes) and just 2 mins back from le croisette (main strip). its a boutique hotel, quite small, the room was v stylish and modern, immaculately clean. the pool is tiny . more of a dipping pool really, but not really the reason you would stay here. the only negative i would have is the food. at breakfast there was a very poor selection and unless you came down very early there would be nothing left. also room service was slow, stopped early (10.30 pm) and unusually the club sandwich contained smoked salmon. that said, i would definitely stay here again, i'd just eat elsewhere

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A charming 4 star Boutique Hotel, the Hotel Le Canberra offers a highly elegant environment. Unrivaled in their refinement, the rooms and suites overlook the prestigious rue d'Antibes or the garden with swimming pool. This very glamorous and resolutely modern decor was inspired by the style of the 1950s. The 'classic chic' style of decoration joins forces with the superior comfort of the accommodation. Share a few moments of relaxation in the Le Cafe Blanc lounge bar and restaurant (opened from April to October). On the patio or terrace, you'll find the very same on trend and glamorous atmosphere. Then, you can head to the hotel garden and the swimming pool surrounded by bamboo and bougainvillea, or else the gym to keep yourself in shape, before finishing off with a session in the sauna. Quiet and ideally located, the hotel offers top-of-the-range services for an incomparable stay. Close to the hotel, you'll find the famous Croisette, the prestigious rue d'Antibes and its luxury shops, the Palais des Festivals, the TGV train station and sandy beaches. ... more   less
