“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

This is a very nice hotel with beautiful lobby decor. The room was very large and clean, no complaints there. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. They were able to take care of an issue with our room immediately and without much fuss. We really appreciated that. The concierge, however, was extremely unhelpful, one of whom basically asked why we needed a map because there's "not that much to do or see in Cannes". They were also unable to provide much guidance on other activities we inquired about.

Location of the hotel is pretty perfect. Extremely close to the beach and Croisette, while also extremely close to all the good shopping, cafes and restaurants. Keep in mind that there is a fee to use the hotel's "private beach". We decided not to use it and paid a way lower fee to use the government operated beach which is just as close as their private beach.

I would definitely stay here again.

The location is excellent. Less than one block from beach and right in the heart of the shopping area. We were pleased most of the staff spoke English very well. Our junior suite was very nice, clean, & well decorated (modern.) The bed & bedding was absolutely heavenly & very comfortable. We had a nice size balcony with a great view of the old town. My only complaint (minor) would be the room & bathroom was a bit small (at least according to our US standards.) I'm not saying it was cramped. I'm just saying if you are an American, don't expect an American sized jr. suite. On the plus side, I absolutely loved the toiletries they supplied. The body oil (labeled Fouquet's) was absolutely wonderful. I wish i could buy it here in the states! All in all, I would definitely recommend & stay at the Gray again.

We had such a great time at this hotel and I will recommend it to my friends. We booked a classic room through a third party website and received an upgrade at the front desk. The staff was very friendly, the room was big, the bed comfy. Although the hotel is not directly located at the beach, it has a perfect location. In a few minutes you can lie on the beach, eat at the plenty of restaurants close-by or go shopping. We are definitely coming back.

Our stays at the Grey d'Albion have always been happy ones. The location can't be beat and the upgrade to the hotel is more than window dressing. The management has invested a lot in improving their property and it clearly shows.
The rooms, bathrooms and amenities show a real effort to provide comfort and quality at an affordable price.
The breakfast is outstanding and comes free with the online packages we've purchased as does wifi internet access. These are two important value items that are very much appreciated.

We were here last summer too. Our experience +the location brought us back to this hote.it is warm ,hospitable place. The service was great. The reception, the concierge were very helpful. smiles are very common in gray d'Albion which was NICE too. The location is excellent, specially to family with little children. There was a small children play ground and kids boat racing place in a close by family run place on the Crossett.

We stayed at the Hotel Gray D' Albion at the start of January, having secured a good deal for travelling during an off peak season.
I was very impressed by this 4 star hotel which is really modern, clean with contemporary lines throughout in a great location in the heart of Cannes.
The rooms were spacious and the bathroom really modern and also of a good size. The breakfast was decent and the hotel is located near to all the shops and restaurants. The beach is within walking distance and although it was closed in January I can imagine it must be very pretty and chic during the warmer months. My best feature of this hotel was it's bar (Jane's Bar) it was really charming and cozy with low sofas and poofs, a definite must to have a drink or even a hot drink at!

We stayed in a room without a balcony but I would definitely opt for a balcony room if I visited again in the summer.

Location and recommended areas to explore in South of France

The hotel is conveniently located about a 5-10 minute walk to the Station which connects you efficiently to other parts of South of France including Monte Carlo. We visited Monte Carlo by Train which took about 30-40 minutes. You can travel to Nice either by bus or train. We also visited St Paul De' Vance which although takes more time to travel to as you have to take the train and then a bus It is well worth a visit as it is a stunning artistic area set on the hill top which houses a variety of expensive art shops. The area has recently become more popular due to it's connection to the book 50 shades of grey.

A recommended place to go by train which is only about 15 minutes from Cannes is the nearby area Antibes. This is a really pretty town a lot more traditional then Cannes with a totally different vibe. The old town in Antibes is well worth a visit, which has a great square with shops and cafes and it is really lively. There is a fabulous little art shop in Antibes called LA GALARIE (20, Rue, Thuret) where you can pick up lovely pictures and frames at a decent price.

Overall Recommendation

This hotel is perfect. It is sophisticated, in the heart of Cannes, close to the beach, old town, eateries (which are mostly all French) the shops, casino and the station. This hotel has a lovely feel and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Cannes for pleasure or business. Having seen some of the other 5 star hotels on the strip I preferred this hotel for it's casual yet very modern and charming feel. I also liked the location being tucked away on one of the side streets.

You can get a bus from Nice Airport (return journey) which is probably the most convenient and economical way to get to Cannes. It takes less than an hour to get to Cannes from Nice and the airport bus pick up is located at the bus stop practically outside the hotel.

Great Hotel for a relaxing vacation. Located directly in the center of shopping and on the Beach, this hotel has fantastic views. It is like an island oasis surrounded by a sea of shops. The hotel has a super restaurant that offers a 5 star meal for breakfast. You can walk leisurely along the boardwalk people watching or (it takes only 10 mins along the waters edge to reach the casino) and shop till you drop or eat in a plethora of restaurants. It is in a perfect location and perfect for families, couples or a nice break for the traveling businessman. My wife and I have been there twice for a 2 week vacation and loved it both times, and will definitely go again.
I can't say enough about this spotless Hotel, it's friendly staff and perfect location no matter what your plans may be...
