We booked this hotel through Eurostar, selecting it based on the reviews on Tripadvisor.

I e-mailed the hotel three times prior to arriving but never received a reply. On arrival the gentleman behind reception showed me that he had replied (they must still be in the ether somewhere!). There was a small dispute over payment, I had paid in advance for the hotel with Eurostar but his records did not show this. However, this was sorted out.

You must be aware that the hotel is up two flights of stairs with no lift so this may be a problem to some less able guests.

Our room, which was rather small, was on the front and although it was clean, there was a permenant musty smell in it. This was due to the bathroom window being fixed shut and there being no means of ventilation - all the steam and condensation remained in the bathroom. The weather was very warm and although there was air conditioning in the room it was rather noisy and could not be left on all night. You could not leave the window open at night as it made it even hotter. The matress on the bed unfortunately sagged towards the middle and was not very comfortable. We had upgraded to a superior room although I am not sure whether we had been given a superior room.

All the reception staff were friendly and greeted us each time we passed through reception. We were offered advice on things to do and where to eat.

We had the breakfast on two mornings, but as others have said, it is rather dear and there are numerous cafes nearby that offer the same fare for less money.

The hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the station, two minutes from the Rue D'Antibes and a five minute walk to La Croisette which makes it very well placed. It is in a quite side street and we experienced very little traffic or pedestrian noise.

I would have rated this hotel higher if it were not for the small, musty room and the uncomfortable bed.

Hello,

I remembered you. I hope you are well and your wife to.

In first we are happy you loved hotel festival during your stay because during your stay you told us: “it is a confortable room, very clean, my wife and I are well…”

And during you stay all was perfect for you.

So concerning your review you do not understand everything but we have an idea…

Yes when you tell the hotel is clean..,… quiet… very well placed …. The staff is friendly and offered advice on things to do and where to eat.

But No when you tell “our room… there was a permanent musty smell it”.
It is not that and not correct to tell that.
No musty smell but smell of sweat.
Why? Because you did not want air conditioning because you do not like it (and no because it was rather noisy) and you did not want open the window because the weather was very warm (Sorry if in Cannes during summer the weather was very good and hot!).
So very complicated!
When the maid opened, you closed immediately.
But it is strange because during your stay when the maid told you it is important to open windows, you told her “it was ok no problem, do not worry”.

No when you tell “The matress on the bed unfortunately sagged towards the middle and was not very comfortable”.
We do not understand because it is new.
And during your stay you told us “the room is confortable, we have good nights.

No when you tell “I e-mailed the hotel three times prior to arriving but never received a reply. On arrival the gentleman behind reception showed me that he had replied (they must still be in the ether somewhere!”.
We reply at your mail and we contacted you by phone.
So we do not understand why you told that.

And for finish and very important, No when you tell “a small dispute over payment”.
It is concerning breakfast and no "a small dispute" but an explanation. Breakfast was not included.
You had to pay breakfast.
Maybe it was the problem…
And if breakfast was not good for you, why did you take two mornings?

You did not want to pay breakfast so we hope the fact to pay breakfast is not the reason of this review.

See you next time and please call hotel to negotiate a room with breakfast included.

Have a good day,

Best regards.

this hotel is very small. it is good only due to its location near the Croisette. the room is small. no breakfast room. they can serve breakfast in your room but for 8,50 euros per person you get very little. so i would not recommend this hotel for long stays - only for one maximum two nights.

Dear Guests,
Thank you for your comment.
But I think your comment is very strange.
Your credit card did not valid for the garantee. The reception had to call the reservation center to report the problem.
You arrived at hotel very late, after check in, without call hotel.
When you arrive, the reception told you that your credit card is not valid and it is necessary to have a new credit card valid for garantee. You were very angry. You did not want. Then after you agree to access in your room.
You left the hotel early in the morning.
You were in a very nice room (better you have booked)
It is for that all the team of hotel Festival does not understand this comment.
Best regards.
