It's is a narrow fairly steep and winding street that is full of restaurants...all very small and interesting.Restaurants very in price so don't assume small equals cheap...this s not the case...read the menus and watch out for the wine prices as this seems to be where the profit is ....it's a must see though

Thank patsiann

Very nice and typical place with lots of local stuff. Good restuarants and souvenir stores. A bit tiresome to climb all stairways and ramps.

You probably don't visit Cannes for the history, and a visit to Le Suquet will remind you why. This is the old, congested part of town and represents Cannes' history, such as it is. If you don't have time to head to the hills behind Cannes (Super Cannes) for spectacular views of Cannes, I guess this will do. Frankly, this is worth skipping, though it has more character than the rest of Cannes. There are several more charming old towns along the Riviera (Eze, et al) which are better.

Opposite the Marina/Port, this is the old Cannes with narrow streets, steep hills and good restaurants. Not so full of shops and boutiques, so a nice change of pace to the Croisette and Rue d'Antibes.

Le Suquet,is a beautiful enclave, with its cobbled streets and breathtaking views. Sit at a street side table and enjoy the favorite hobby of people watching up and down the lovely marina.
The promenade de la Croisette is a waterfront avenue with palm trees, lined with picturesque beaches, cafes and boutiques. From here you can see the fortified tower and chapel of St.Anne which houses the Musee de la Castre. Out on the bay,the Man in the Iron mask was imprisoned on the IIe Saint Marguerite.
Nearby,is a great place to visit is the Musee d'Art et d'Histoire de Provence for the exhibits of artifacts from prehistoric to the present,in an 18th mansion.
la Croisette is Cannes catwalk by the sea. Its the center of the city, tourist activity, known for luxury hotels and boutique shops. The beaches around are packed in the season. Nearby is a covered market in rue Meynardiers which is a treasure trove of everything Provencal Out on the water...super yachts abound. Take time to visit the notre dame d'Esperance,a provencal gothic church with wooden paneling from the 14th century and a fresco by George Roux that portrays the baptism of Christ. its up on the hill of Suquet Hill in old Cannes. It is a great place to take in the panorama of the old town and the bay, however the area from the beach front up to the railway looks shabby and dishevelled, home to migrants from Africa and Middle East.
You can book day-cruises to Monaco,St Tropez and other destinations.
Cannes is a popular location and busy tourist hub when the city hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival. If you fancy luxury,it comes in the architecture of the19th century....grand villas, built to reflect wealth. Here are medieval castles as well as roman villas.
Nice Airport is 15 minutes away and TGV rail services provide access to major French cities
The city is glamorous and expensive seaside town considered to be one of the hubs of Europe .
