What a surprise! We made reservations for 8 on a Saturday night. The owner greeted us at the door with a warm and sincere hand shake. The table was ready in the main dining room that is decorated in a marocan style with Berbers frescoes on the wall, colored glass windows and rustic furniture. They only serve couscous and you have different choices of meats and meats combo. They carry wines from Algeria, Tunisia and morocco. I recommend the Tellal or the Sidi Brahim rose. The service was a bit slow but the server was so friendly and willing that you just forgot the time. Everything came out hot and as ordered. The lamb was delicious and so were the Merguez. Prices are moderate and portions perfect. You can always ask for more "bouillon" sauce or "graine" couscous at no extra charge. We had a great time and will make sure to go back every time we are in Cannes.

The tables were full, so they opened a small table on the back balcony over the courtyard just for us. It was quiet, perfect, and romantic. The food was in the top two couscous meals I have ever had. I would absolutely go back. The service was not fast, but no problem as this was a memorable experience in addition to a meal.

We have been going to the Maghreb for many years and the couscous is always excellent. I highly recommend the 'Royale' which is impossible to finish but oh so delicious. Service is pleasant and the owner always, always greets all his guests. The restaurant is not very large so it is highly advisable to book in advance.

The Maghreb has been around for almost forty years, a longevity which in Cannes means they must be doing something good. And for sure they do a really good couscous whose copiousness means you will never get to finish it.
You might find cheaper, but you won't find the same value for money.
The back room overlooking a tortoise haven garden is the more attractive one.
One proviso, it can get mighty hot in the torrid summer months. Be prepared to consume vast quantities of rosé and ice cold water.......take the bottled stuff in both cases!
Book in advance to guarantee a table.
