June 2013: we spent a week in Cannes France and discovered Cannes is not all a "Hollywood" type place. Just a few blocks away from the shore is a real French town. We found a old style French cafe. During our time in Cannes we found local people favored (always a good indicator) Warner cafe. Strolling around Cannes I pitied tourists who patronized restaurants that lured in visitors. Warner cafe has excellent food, generous portions, energetic friendly staff and fair prices. Their hamburger dishes feature better beef than what I encounter in the States. I had perhaps a half dozen meals there all were delicious. The French can function on a piece of buttered bread for breakfast but they understand Americans, Brits and others want something more substantial and offer many options, excellent omelets. The owner, who's name is pronounced "did e ay", purchased a high chair for our 8 month old grandson to use. The wait staff all manage English well and the chief is willing to modify dishes for customers. When we packed the rental car to go to our next stop the Warner staff came out say farewell. We'll be back!
