Went to this restaurant which is right up at the top of the hill immediately in front of the Castle! (12 Place Du Chateau) This is also easily accessible by taking the #44 Bus to the top! Stunning views over the surrounding area.Went there on our last evening in Cagnes and was glad we did as the food was wonderful. The menu is half Asian and half French Provencale with lots of local specialities. My Partner had the Duck and this was excellent and I went for the entrecôte steak which also was very tasty. We also had starters and sweets to finish and these were also very good. Was told that the Chef was in his 77th year and really cared about the quality of his food, which shone through!! Well worth the hike to the top ( if you're really fit) or do like we did and get the community ( free) Bus!

We came here for the historic walk of the chateau haut de cagnes and wanted to eat first. The square at place du chateau is high up in haut de cagnes but locals who know about these little gems of restaurants in the square come here often in the summer as you are sometimes rewarded by a free evening of music. Delightful. You eat your food looking at the spectacular mountains and stunning views. The food at the l'atelier is divine, there is a choice of provencale or Vietnamese. The chef who is 76 yrs old is from Vietnam and boy can he cook.....we both had the hot Vietnamese sea bass with rice....exquisite . The service is friendly but if you go when busy due to a music concert be prepared for a long wait....but well worth it. Parking your car is an issue, but you can park in the car park but in the evening it will cost you 20 euro or if not take the free navette bus that takes you to the top of the hill where all the restaurants are.

Intriguing menu with a mix of Asian and traditional French dishes.

We went for the courgette and aubergine baignets to start and they were superb; a very light tempura-style batter, with a light aioili mayonnaise and a salad dressed with an exquisite vinaigrette .

My partner went for the Gambas Provencal which came with a tomato reduction and fried garlic. I tried in vain to cadge some, which I think shows how good they were . I went for a Vietnamese all-in one dish ,with a mix of crispy noodles, butterflied prawns, Thai basil, salad and a sweet and sour sauce.

All washed down with an initial 50cl of 1664 followed by a very acceptable pichet of Cote de Provence white. So good to be able to escape the same old/same old menus items - steak and duck -which pervade most of the local restaurants.

Thoroughly recommeneded for lunch or dinner
