Owner description: Discover this Cote d'Azur seaside Palazzo, luxurious reconstitution of an Ancient Greek Villa. At the edge of the sea, facing the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, the Villa is a magic place that takes you back in time. Entirely furnished and decorated, the Villa's many rooms bear witness to the art of living and refinement of Ancient Greece. The Villa is also a place for wedding and receptions organization.

“Back in time, to a classical Greek fantasy.”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

As do so many tourists, we purchased tickets for the 2-villa package: the Villa Kerylos and the Villa Ephrussi. If time permits, it's worth seeing them on separate days, to fully relish the experience. The audio guides, included in the price of admission, provide excellent information. The Villa Kerylos was designed in the style of classic Greek architecture, and is totally different in virtually every way from the neighbouring Villa Ephrussi. Interestingly, but likely not by coincidence, the owners of the two villas were related.

Though the Greek style of Villa Kerylos is far less ornate, immaculate attention has been lavished on certain details, such as the bathrooms and their fittings, the mosaic floors and the efforts at authenticity for the furniture. Many of the building's structural features are arranged in precise symmetry. The house is built on a small promontory, surrounded on three sides by the sea. Worth a particular visit is the lower lever, which houses a wonderful collection of reproduction Greek statues, and hand-drawn maps of some of the many fortified ports that surround the Mediterranean. Barred openings lead straight into the ocean ! The house is a short walk from the town centre of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and there is a wonderful sense of going back to another land, another time, another life.

A great place to visit and so interesting - you could almost be on a film set - it has been recreated lovingly by the owner many years back and is fabulous. Beautiful view from the villa across the bay and sea.

“Surprisingly wonderful house”

We bought the dual ticket to see this and the Ephrussi and were not disappointed at all. We saw Ephrussi on one afternoon and came back to see Kerylos the next morning. Few other tourists so we had the place to ourselves. Although it was a reconstruction, this did not take away from the fact that the architects tried to faithfullly represent an authentic villa. Very much worth a couple hours
