Bought combined tickets for this attraction & Aquasplash located next door. Good price considering that it was high season & it's prominent location on the Côte d'Azur in Biot.
We paid£145 for 2 days entertainment for a family of 4 at the water park & 2 adults and 1 child @Marineland. Parking costs €7per day. Food & drinks are quite expensive. Lots of people bring discreet picnics.
Marineland itself is fantastic. Well laid out with shows throughout the day with seals, sea lions, killer whales and dolphins. There are also penguins, sharks & a polar bear displays. All of the shows were busy. We reached the killer whale arena 45 mins early to get a great view with a seat in the shade.
All in all a great day out with something for everyone!

Even the English version of the website is tricky to interpret; there is just not enough information given. A contact number for general enquiries, such as directions, is not given. We booked VIP tickets but there really is very little information about where to park and meet given. We discovered most of what we were supposed to do by reading through other reviews on TA.

So you follow the signs to marineland, once in the vicinity of Antibes, turn up at car park 1 just before 9am, drive right to the top where the information desk is, and hang around there till they stop setting up shop and someone comes out to let everyone in. Even though the website says a maximum of 12 people in each VIP group, there were 16 in ours.

Breakfast - best plan is to have it before you arrive as it is not served till after 11am and even then comprises only a glass of orange juice, a selection of mini croissants and a drink from a machine.

Moan over.

If you have mixed feelings about keeping animals of any kind in captivity, then this is an educational visit. The keepers will answer any questions thrown at them, and I asked some pretty pertinent ones. The animals are all part of conservation programmes and were mostly born in captivity via artificial insemination. The animals are trained in the process so that they have no idea when the actual event is going to occur, and therefore there is a limited amount of stress involved.
Semen is exchanged between "conservation parks" the world over and therefore inbreeding is avoided. Whether or not "released" individuals (e.g. polar bears) would actually survive in the wild remains to be seen.

However, the fact that the animals are breeding must mean that they are being extrememly well looked after and to all intents and purposes, happy enough if we can anthropomorphise. Certainly the orca show was quite a spectacle and hats off to the trainers, who enjoy their work. Everything is done to a reward, food of course, and we saw impatient orca waiting for the show to start as they knew lunch would be coming.

The show starts at 14:30 and lasts around 30 mins. If I understood correctly, the sequence is mixed up every time so that the animals do not habituate and thus become bored, also a very good system of management.

The rest of the place became busy toward lunchtime. The shark tunnel is quite a spectacle.
VIP tickets definately worth it. Photos (that they take) cost 10 euro each, and can be printed to CD for 25 euro extra. Car parking is not included in the VIP ticket cost. But somehow after all the impassioned explanations from the keepers and trainers, one does not seem to mind these extras as it is all for the animals upkeep and facilities. Some of the staff are even volunteers.

A very special treat indeed.

We went in August - yes it was busy, but the south of France in August is busy everywhere- it's normal!
We booked tickets online in advance to save some money (you need to book 5 days in advance).
The shows were fantastic (especially the dolphins and killer whales). Apparently the night shows are even better (my brother in law stayed on to watch).
Take a picnic as the queues for food were mad, and expect to get wet if you stand in the 'splash' zones ('splash can translate into 'soaked' depending where you stand ;-).
Have fun :-) suitable for young and old alike but I can only add one on 'what sort of visit'

This place was a lot of fun for my 2,5 year old son. We saw the delphine show and also the killer whale show. Get there in time though if you're visiting the place in the summer. You have to get a shadow place! I would recommend going in the spring or autumn. For us it was too hot in August! Although, if you're visiting aqua splash, I would prefer August.

For small children, I think the "far west" part is more appreciated, even though a lot of activities are from three years and above. My son enjoyed though marine land as well, where you can visit sharks, polar bears, penguins etc.

There are some places where you can eat and you can also bring with you food to have pic nic. You can get around with pram if necessary.

Visited on a Wednesday in August which was probably a mistake as the crowds were huge with a big queue for the car parks (apparently weekends are quieter than mid week). Huge queues to buy tickets so used the automated machines which have an English option (Adult Euro 38 and Child Euro 30). Don't forget to scan your parking ticket and pay Euro 7 at that point.

Headed straight for Orca show which started at 11.45 and was outstanding and my 9 year old son Felix loved every minute.

Right next to the Orcas was an enclosure with two Polar Bears swimming in a glass sided tank - wonderful to watch and highly recommended. There was also a large pool with a very friendly dolphin which came up whistling and clicking at us - this area leads up to a VIP pool where you can book an interactive session with the dolphins.

Hint: The best restaurant is the one near the Orcas which is right next to the VIP dolphin pool. Less crowded, better food and great views - but only serves food 12.00 to 14.30.

The Sea Lion show was jam packed with nowhere enough seating compared to the other arenas - so get there at least 20 minutes early for any hope of a seat.

The Dolphin show was excellent but started 15 minutes earlier than stated as every seat was already taken - so again get there early!

Apart from the timed shows there was a shark tunnel (very crowded), an aquarium, penguins and in one corner an area with animated dinosaurs with moving eyes, heads etc.

After 4 hours we had seen everything so went back to see the Orca show again but watched from the restaurant behind the scenes where you could see the trainers getting the whales ready - lovely interaction and a wonderful day.
