We stayed at Camp Du Pylone in July 2004 and are returning again this year. It was an ideal place for the three children, then aged 6, 7 and 10 yrs. For value for money you cant beat it. There is no other way we could afford to holiday in the South of France. It is within 5 mins walking distance of Marine World and Aqua Splash (the kids loved Aqua Splash). Tickets are expensive to get in though. It is only a few minutes from Biot railway stn. where you can get to any where on the French Riviera quite cheaply. We too went for a day trip to Italy (Friday is market day in Ventimiglia) but check on the type of train taking you there. We got on a packed rattling old train on the way there with no spare seats, no air cond and the children were very uncomfortable). On the way back, a fast comfortable train. The shop on the site is expensive and the beach across the road is full of pebbles. We travelled to Juan les Pains for a day on the beach and although the beach was lovely, we found we had to pay to sit on it. Antibes was better for us, we could sun bathe for free. Woe betide any one caught drinking anything (even water) whilst sitting on a chair near the camp site bar (even outside in sweltering heat)...the bar heavies will decend upon you like prison guards until you leave!
