“A great small hotel”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This is a great small family run hotel in a quiet residential area but within easy walking distance of the centre of Antibes. Service is very friendly and efficient. Room prices are very reasonable and there is a free car park.

This hotel is a hidden gem within easy walking distance of all the delights Antibes has to offer its visitors. The family Zwinger are charming and so helpful. The fact that the hotel is family run adds immeasurably to its attraction as the commitment of M. Arnaud and Mlle. Delphine to the service of their guests is total.

Nice and relaxed atmosphere, good breakfast. The only thing we regret is that we didn't manage to enjoy your seemingly exelent diner in the evening. The hotel is located quite centrally in between Juan les Pins and Antibes.

Room Tip: We had a pleasant room on the ground floor with a view of the garden, and could go out in the garden...

We had a great time in Antibes and especially at the Mas Djoliba hotel. Arno and his team worked tirelessly to make sure we were as comfortable as could be. The food was delicious, rooms were clean and the pool was glorious. Hotel is located 5-10 min walk from the beach. I wish I could go back!

This hotel is very well situated at under 10mins. from the plage de la Salis and the town centre. It is immaculately clean indoors and outdoors, swimming pool very clean if very cold compared to the sea.

Unfortunately the compliments end here. Car park difficult to get into with 7 spaces for 13 rooms and no outside parking possible. We had a triple room for two people. Very small and nowhere to put anything. Cupboard for clothes in the bathroom opposite the toilet. Had to open cupboard door to sit on the toilet. I noticed the very pretty bed covers, ours disappeared after 24 hours. My partner asked where it was, it had been taken away for cleaning ( it was immaculate). If we were cold we could use the extra blankets in the cupboard. Is that weird????

Car park. 7 spaces for 13 rooms. Nice.

And to end, the 1/2 pension. Meal at 7.45 p.m. SHARP and a fixed menu. The quality of the food was third rate, two sweets were liquidized and one called "melon balls and strawberries" was in fact melon balls and frozen water melon. A tart came from a supermarket, I recognized it. The meat was unidentifiable. To top this off, we had to eat outside ( our stay was from 16 to 21 September and the first evening it was so cold and windy that all the ladies wore thick cardies except one who had a ski jacket on. The weather got better afterwards thank goodness. We wondered if we had been put in a slightly sadistic old people's home.

260€ per day for 2 people for this. Amazing.

Needless to say we will be renting a flat the next time we go to Antibes which is an absolutely beautiful town.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for a triple room if it is not essential.

This hotel came recommended as a "hidden gem" by Rick Steeves in his travel book for Provence and the French Riveria. After having agreed with all of Rick's recommendations so far on the trip we decided to spend a little bit more money and stay here.

Another great recommendation. We were initially grilled for not booking direcly with the hotel (we booked through booking.com and therefore the hotel had to pay a commission) which i thought was a tad rude but it turns out there were very little staff on and it was a relatively busy time when we arrived so all was forgiven. After checking in, our room was spacious with room for 3 people with a very modern bathroom. We had breakfast every day which was delicious and plentiful and not badly priced at 13Euros each.

We also ate a 4 course dinner at the restaurant which was very nice. It was not overly busy at the hotel at the time so we were able to book relatively last minute. The food was excellent and the service very good. The wine selection was very good and i think between 3 of us we managed to drink 6 bottles of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2008! Very nice wine. The owner even allowed us to have some wine which was not on the wine list which was a nice personal touch and much appreciated.

After two very pleasant days we had to say goodby to Antibes and Mas Djoliba but I will not hesitate to return. Definitely try this place for something different, that is relatively affordable.

Room Tip: We were in a triple room which was on the first floor past reception. there was no other rooms near...
