“Decent food, reasonably priced set menu and someone to park your car”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I have been to Albert 1er many times before and was not disappointed this time either. Their E33 menu includes half a bottle of their house wine. I have tried both the rose and the white and they are both extremely drinkable and adequate. The set menu changes from time to time and is always good. The staff are helpful, and the service was good. There is also a parking service which is helpful as it sometimes awkward to park there. It was very busy, but despite that, the tables are never on top of each other so you never have to hear other people's conversations, nor are you likely to be eavesdropped, so you can remain private.HELPFUL TIP If you reserve in advance, ask for a table on the front overlooking the sea, although there is a road in front of the sea, it is still the best view, otherwise you may be seated in the interior where there is no view of anything.

“Brilliant Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

It was an absolute pleasure eating here. Having not heard any reviews of the hotel before and just going in because of seeing how busy it was on previous nights we were delighted with what we had found. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the Maitre d'hotel we felt relaxed. Even on a wet Sunday evening the hotel was surprisingly busy. The Maitre d'Hotel went through the specials with us and then a Chef de Rang rolled the Gueridon to present the wild fish of the day. The passion he had in explaining the fish was a delight. We shared a starter of fried squid between 5 as we had had a big lunch. two on the table split the wild sole and another two split the fish Paella. (Many of the options are for two persons) Both were cooked beautifully and were extremely filling. I myself had the sea-bream which was served with perfectly shaped and peeled potatoes.

The key winning aspect of the restaurant for me was their attention to detail in service from the way the orders were taken and served to having the items finished right in-front of the table. It is certainly a place I will be returning to. I give it the 5* for the service while I still think some of the specials were quite on the expensive side.

“Disppointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Under new management and the quiet, discrete service has been replaced. Perhaps it was just our waiter who thought himself above us. Another waiter we spoke to at the end of the evening, to find my hat, was far more helpful.
Overpriced for the quality now. Nobody seemed to be eating the huge Fruits de Mer platters for which it was famous, although the oysters were still amazing. Avoid the profiteroles now as the chocolate sauce is more akin to the syrup served on children's ice creams than the melted Belgian chocolate you'd expect. Even the crepes seemed to be pre-cooked.
If you used to enjoy the experience of eating there with Vincent in charge, try his new steak restaurant, "Le Golden Beef" but yards away.

“Very popular for fresh oysters and seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

Unfortunately, I can't eat those so I cannot judge them. However, I had an excellent tuna steak and my companions were also happy with their dishes - lobster and ravioli. The desserts were large and artistically presented, the rosé wine nicely matched. The service was curteous and timely and the bill fitted a top seafront locale.

OK food but way over priced. Had oysters and fresh sole. Service was not consistent.Go back into vieux ville and get a better meal at a better price.
