“Shoebox in the middle of the road”

Thought the place sounded to good to be true, arrived to be given a room, already occupied by someone else, then given a room far from the superior we expected, extremely high levels of noise from the buses bars and roads meant no sleep, given horse steak in the hotel restaurant instead of the Charolaise steak I ordered, unfortunately unaware of this until I had finished! And to add further insult it appears they had miscalculated our bill and took a further large unauthorised payment from our account without any contact or authorisation, but don't worry we don't know how to refund the double overseas transaction fee but you can have it as a credit off your next bill, no chance of that then!

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write such an interesting review.
We are always pleased to receive them in order to improve the quality of our hotel.
However, we believe there have been some misunderstandings and certain points need clarification.
The hotel CHECK IN is at 3 p.m. and your arrival was a few hours earlier than expected; the reception with the desire to make a good first impression allowed your check inn, unluckily the room had not been cleaned yet. We assume full responsibility for the incident although it came from a good intention originally.
You have been given exactly the room you requested and let me emphasize that all of our rooms are double glassed/soundproof; buses circulation ends at 8 p.m. and also your room was located on the backside, facing a small pedestrian street.

Certainly we had the pleasure to have you in our restaurant, I assure you we have never had horse meat as part of the menu, what you ordered was a " Steak haché à cheval" which is minced beef steak with an egg on top (11.00 € a plate) we do not have steak charolais either, what we do serve is Entrecôte Charolaise (19.00 € a plate).

Your stay consisted of 3 nights, nevertheless, the bill reflected two nights only, unfortunately, neither the reception nor you noticed the error, we tried to contact you without success, for that matter, we were obliged to add the remaining night with the credit card you provided to guarantee the booking when the reservation was made online.

The oversee transaction fees rises to 3 pounds, we regret the extra charge.
As a last point I wish to express my deepest apologizes for any inconvenience that may have occurred during your stay, especially when our main purpose is to fully satisfy our guests.
That been said, my best wishes to you, hoping to see you again in the near future.

Cordially
Bernadette and Hotel la Place Team.

We chose this hotel based on reviews already posted on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. The room was lovely, comfortable large bed, good bathroom, excellent shower. We ate in the restaurant twice during our 7 night stay - good food, presented really nicely. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely too - colour scheme of pinks and purples with splashes of lime and soft lighting, makes it very restful and welcoming. The other positive about hotel is the location. It is a 10 minute walk to the train station - the trains along the coast are excellent, very reasonably priced, so by linking up with the local buses you can really explore this part of France without having to hire a car. All made for a really enjoyable vacance!

Room Tip: We had room no 22 - on second floor but there is no lift.

My review of this hotel is long overdue; we stayed at this lovely hotel in May 2012
Right from the start Bernadette who runs the hotel was really friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The reason for our trip was for a family reunion and because there is no lift in the hotel we wanted our parents room to be on the 1st floor. Bernadette gladly arranged this and also arranged for all our rooms ( 3 ) to be on the first floor - perfect.
The rooms are modern , very clean and right in the centre of Antibes - great for a weekend break.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms were all lovely!

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights in September this year. The room was modern , light and airy and the owner , Bernadette , seems to have everything just right , from the hotel layout to the quality of her staff. Nothing is too much trouble and I cannot recommend the hotel too highly.

After staying in a five star hotel in Nice, we thought this hotel would be a step or two down, but what a surprise! Although our room faced a pretty busy area, it was quiet, the room had large windows and there was a big window in the bathroom as well, which made a fantastic difference! The shower was so much better than in the 5 star hotel, and the products were lovely. But the best part of this gem was the owner/manager - the loveliest lady, extremely interested in our plans, answering all of our questions and that wonderful attitude rubbed off on all of the staff, because everyone was friendly, helpful and always professional.
This is a hotel we will visit frequently, it is so well situated in the old city, with a fantastic bar and restaurant and stunning rooms. Four star standard at least. Plus, there's tagadas in a bowl at the entrance for a daily top up!

Room Tip: The top floor, facing towards the bus depot(north) is the best.

My husband and I have just spent 5 days in the hotel La Place based on reviews on Trip Advisor. We were welcomed warmly by the owner on our arrival. She knew exactly who we were before we said our names, and she and all the staff were very helpful, friendly and courteous throughout our stay.

Our room was comfortable, modern and tastefully furnished and the bathroom was spotlessly clean and had an excellent shower - one of the best if not THE best we have ever used. Toiletries were provided daily, and dental kits etc. were available if needed. Incidentally I loved the smell of the soap, shampoo and body lotion. Beach towels could be hired, but we had our own.

The room contained a safe deposit box and had air conditioning and TV, and the restaurant downstairs was pleasant and welcoming with a good ambiance. We ate there the first evening and our meal was delicious. The breakfast costs 8 euros for Continental and 13 euros for buffet. They were good but we would have liked a bit more .....but the price and quantity are standard for the Cote d'Azur.

All in all we had a most enjoyable stay at this hotel and would love to return.

Room Tip: There is no lift so for people for whom walking is difficult the first floor might be preferable.

We have stayed here before around a year ago so wanted to go back as we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I accidentally booked 'La Place' hotel in a French city 500km away! However the owner was very friendly and we were able to stay one night, instead of the two intended, with no bother. Needless to say it is popular and booked out in advance...

The owner is friendly and this is a cosy boutique hotel with 14 rooms. The location is excellent for exploring the old town of Antibes. Sadly there is no lift so you have to carry your own bags up the stairs...Breakfast is nice and you can now have a buffet choice for 13 euros or continental for 8.

The rooms are comfortable and modern. The double glazing proves excellent for a total quiet night's sleep despite having the bus station outside. Needless to say we returned to stay here and would stay again. They price is not cheap but worth the visit.
