I have been to Antibes many times with my family (younger kids). Now here with a girlfriend and we decided to embibe. We shared one of green absinthe (it was early and not crowded - only two others in theri so she didn't seem to mind - (E6/glass) and it was very interesting to learn how to let the ice water drip through the sugar to dilute the absinthe. Very cool. The server didn't speak English well but did her best telling us the history. Did you know they used to put absinthe in wine and beer? Who knew?

It's DOWN stairs - don't just go to the upstairs store!

We had read about this from other reviews and thought it would be interesting. It was a great way to spend a little time. The bar is downstairs and off a small pedestrian street. The owners are happy to explain the process of drinking absinthe and to suggest which one to try. It is probably an aquired taste but certainly worth a visit if you like to try different drinks.

Great place for an evening in Antibes. If you have never tried absinthe this is the place to discover it, in a warm friendly atmosphere. Remember to ask the manager to tell you about the history of absinthe.

Very friendly, fun place. It is more of a small bar than a museum but a very lively one albeit very small. We visit visited one evening about 9pm and found a piano player in full swing with a songbook full of popular songs (in English as it happens), and all the occupants of the bar were wearing a variety of mad hats supplied by the bar and singing along. As soon as we entered we grabbed some of the random hats around the place and joined in. The hats are a great ice-breaker, hard to be pretentious with a London bobby's hat on........
Absinthe drinking requires a particular technique but the very friendly bar staff were quick to help.
Well worth a visit, but go for a drink rather than to view a museum as it's really a tiny bar.
