“Service... a shame”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

Rude, arrogant, unfriendly... really a shame for the service here in France, the food wasn't bad but all the experience was totally bungled by terrible attitude from the people in charge of the service. Not a "bonsoir" upon arrival nor on departure... was ready to leave after 5 minutes, we should have actually for such rude behaviors. But one thing is clear i won't go back.

“Best on our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

We have a tendency to want to have at least one leisurely lunch overlooking vineyards and enjoying great food and wine on lengthy holidays. This was it. Thank heavens my husband read the Lonely Planet recommendation before we set off that day to just tour around and head towards Chateauneuf-du-Pape for a look. We turned up without a booking and got a lovely table out on the terrace one layer back from those already booked and dining. The view was terrific, food lovely and we had no problem with the service at all (it was not full inside and out so perhaps that might have some impact). The part which amused us was how savvy the waiter was with the woman who barged ahead of us with her husband to almost tackle the waiter so she could get in first. The waiter had seen us waiting politely whilst he delivered wine to patrons already seated. Whilst he did in fact seat the other couple first he knew exactly what he was doing as he gave us the better table in the end. Do not rush a visit to this restaurant but make sure you go if you have the opportunity. We just kicked back and unwound, watched the local families, chatted to the waiters and it will be probably the most memorable (in a good way) meal of our entire holiday. It was fantastic value too which just added to the experience. This was the complete package for us and not in the least bit pretentious.

“Can't comment on the food but service is awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

We were visiting the village and decided to stop for a drink and snack.

Initially, we were shown a table we did not like and asked for a table near the balcony. "Non" we were told, it is 'reserved'.

Fine, we sat at the one we were told to and were amazed to see a couple arrive, ask about available tables and be shown to the table we had just asked about!

It too a long time for menus to arrive, despite the restaurant only having 4 other tables occupied.

They finally arrived and the waiter disappeared again.

When he returned, after another long wait, we asked for drinks and were told we could not order drinks from him, as his colleague did drinks and he could only do food.

We then ordered a plate of cheeses to have with our wine and were told "Non", that snacks were not possible and we could only order a full meal.

This was with a half empty restaurant!

The combination of misinformation, slow, disinterested service and attitude drove us away.

“Great setting, good lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

Had good lunch sitting under trees on terrace, with beautiful views over village and towards Rhone and Avignon. Food really good at reasonable cost. Service good if rather reserved. Also had tour of Cave and very enjoyable tasting after lunch.

“Great view, wine and food (in that order!)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

Another great restaurant recommended and booked by our hotel.
Getting there may be a bit confusing as the road is quite new and most GPS are not updated to recognise the changes. Drive along the outskirts of the village to the top of the hill towards the ruins.
The view is exquisite so try to get there in time for sunset and pre-book an outside table under the trees. The decor is a little old (80s style with lots of maroon) and the menu isn't massive but helpings are generous and tasty.
The restaurant is also frequented by locals which is always a good sign!
Don't have any other plans for the evening (the service isn't fast) so sit back and enjoy the view, good French food and superb wines.
