“The trains are really loud....”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

but if you keep the windows closed and use the air conditioning instead, then its fine. The only reason I am giving this hotel a 4/5 rating is because it's family run and they are there to accommodate you. Breakfast was great, they had tons of recommendations for dinners in Avignon, and they also had a driver if you wanted to go anywhere like Chateauneuf du Pape (for a price). The bathrooms in the rooms are painfully small, and you can hear the announcements of the trains, but it is the best service you will ever receive in a hotel (and once you get used to the bathroom it's really a charming stay). It's just outside the city walls but walkable to everything within the city walls. If you get a chance, ask the owner about his time working on the oil platforms -- very interesting story!

Room Tip: Doesn't matter -- just know to keep the windows closed at all times

Whilst the hotel is located off a main road and this is in fact the rear view, it is absolutely stunning. It is family run, and slightly rough around the edges but has a warm feel in the lovely Avignon sunshine. We arrived and stayed one night, and were greeted by the family kitten. The owners were most welcoming, providing us with maps and information on Avignon. A sweeping and well worn staircase adds to the charm (worth knowing there is no lift here so you have to work those muscles with your luggage!) On first impression the hallways were dark but the room itself was clean, a good size and had en suite. Initially on entering the room there was a strong damp smell due to the wet room not being aired, however upon throwing open the shutters and windows this was soon sorted and the beautiful sunshine poured in. Another wonderful touch was the complimentary bottle of red wine in our room - a surprising and much appreciated addition. The hotel is under a 10 min walk into the city walls of Avignon with a wealth of places to explore. The bed itself was very comfortable, air con was available and a variety of toiletries provided. Breakfast in the morning was complimentary which we found was a rarity on our trip and it was perfect. A great selection of food and we were free to help ourselves! The small courtyard was the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast (avec kitten!) in the morning sunshine. Great to have off road parking available with the hotel in such a central location, and the owners were much obliging when we requested to leave the car there on the morning of our check out, whilst we did some last minute sight seeing (no issues with trust when leaving our keys with them in case of manouevering vehicles due to the tight parking in the small carpark) Would recommend for a truly French, local, friendly hotel.

Room Tip: Request room overlooking courtyard with ensuite.

This hotel is located in a very good position to visit Avignon.
Just outside the old city.

We had a clean large room. The staff is very friendly and helpfull.

Breakfast standard with good coffee.

The only I can say is that it is close to train station, train lines and you maybe have
noise during the night.

This is a small hotel, in an old building, just a short distance from the old city of Avignon - almost a perfect place for someone looking to stay away from big and busy hotels. However, when looking for such hotel, make sure it is not near a train station....
We loved the hotel and the location, but suffered from the nearby trainstation...
It is hard to sleep when trains are passing nearby all night long.
Little to do about that though, simply don't stay there or know what to expect...

€110 + tax for a very ordinary studio room seemed expensive for the facilities provided. Barely adequate breakfast with unripe fruit. Rail line ran past very close so noisy. Fairly convenient location and very useful free parking.

Not the most flashy place in Avignon, but good location, clean rooms and private parking.
Very helpfull staff and a relaxed atmosphere.
Some noice from the railway during the night is the only negative part.
Good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for the "apartment" right outside the gate with Windows facing the back- yard
