Description: Set next to Avignon's magnificent Palace of the Popes, Restaurant Christian Etienne is a divine dining destination with sweeping views of the city and of the Rhone valley. Michelin-starred chef Christian Etienne is passionate about food, and his seasonal menu – themed on tomatoes in summer, truffles in winter, asparagus in spring and mushrooms in autumn – has been inspired by the kitchens of his mother and grandmothers. This is a sensational spot for meals with a view, and the food certainly lives up to the restaurant's stunning setting. Etienne's signature dish is the roasted lobster claws served with asparagus and a confit of fresh ginger root and sesame seeds, and the restaurant has a superb Cote du Rhone-led wine list.

We had a large group and left it up to the chef to provide a degustation banquet which
simply blew us all away. Outstanding fresh local produce prepared with love and passion!
It simply was excellent in all aspects. Thank you!

“Lovely setting”
Reviewed August 24, 2012 via mobile

Wonderful food, extremely slow service. Plan to spend the afternoon if you for lunch and order the tomato menu. Not good for children. No menu substitutions.

“Quite good with great outdoor seating”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

We ordered a set lunch and a tomato menu, the starter of set lunch was ravioli with duck in lemon soup, very fresh and tasty, the fish main course was just ok, while strawberry mousse dessert was good. There were 7 dishes for tomato menu, the first one was shrimp with tomato foam and jelly, it was the best among 7 dishes, others such as fish with tomato paste and sun-dried tomato, tomato mousse with lemon sauce were also quite good, although some dishes were just average, such as snails and goat cheese. Overall a quite good restaurant with great outdoor seating.

“Great Food, Location and Service”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Was fortunate enough to experience this fabulous restaurant on a recent trip to Avignon. We had a group event on the terrace where the evening breeze was delightful - even in late June. The menu was delicious and of the highest quality. The service was terrific. The chef greeted our party as well.

The location, directly next to the Papal Palace, and the musical entertainment from the square in front of the Palace added to the ambiance of the evening.

Wonderful experience showing the best Avignon has to offer.

“Wonderful place to have lunch”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

The experience of sitting on the porch high above the square with the breeze on a hot summer day is so nice and food is wonderful. Attentive service, delicious food-- especially the strawberry mousse!
