Accommodation to us is a very important item on our holiday agenda. If it is wrong the holiday is ruined. We read holiday reviews and take photographs into account before deciding where to stay. When choosing Avignon we looked at a number of places to stay. Various price levels. We thought that the Hotel Le Colbert appeared nice and had good reports. The truth is that you never know until you try it yourself.

Just in case our experience helps this is what we found. A lovely boutique hotel in a quite street close to the city (within 100 m). A beautiful quite park was within about 50 m - where it was nice to sit in the shade out of the sun. A lovely place to have a light lunch. The local boulangerie supplied excellent quality rolls, confectionary and drinks at reasonable prices - about £9.00 for two. The hotel is very close to a launderette (in another street about 100 m) and a hairdressing salon in the same street about 50 m away.

The hotel is decorated in bright Provencal colours. The dinning room, sitting room and courtyard are beautifully furnished with plenty of interest in the form of posters and collectables.

The bedroom we had also had a sitting area. Air conditioning was efficient and kept the room at about 18c. The two windows were large and were covered with good curtains so you could block out as much light as you wanted. The bed was good, clean and comfortable. The bed linen was changed daily. The shower room was totaly adequate and the toliet was separate in a small closet within the room. Lighting was good and controllable to set the right ambience. TV let us keep up to date with UK news other programmes were in French.

Patrice speaks excellent English and advised on various places to visit and restaurants to use. He was right in his choices and mindful that although we were on holiday we did not want to pay stupid amounts for food daily. High prices are for special occasions.

Annie worked hard in suppling good Provencal food, including fantastic crepes with honey, almonds or chocolate. Patrice workded hard in serving at the tables and always asked had you had enough or did you want anything else.

The Hotel Le Colbert is a good experience. Annie and Patrice gave this Hotel faces to remember. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Their dogs Britney and Newton are real stars staying in the office/reception area. They go nowhere near the Dining area or Guest rooms.

The weather was sunny and warm all the time we stayed just like this hotel.

When it came to settling the bill we felt that we had received excellent value for money and that the owners had gone out of their way to make our stay memorable.. When travelling to Avignon in the future we will not need to look for advice regarding where to stay as we have found the place at which we would choose to stay. Based on our experience we recommend Hotel Le Colbert to you, and can assure you, that you will probably feel as we do after your visit.

We stayed in Avignon for the second time. We had found The Hotel Colbert last year while we were having a walk in the area. The hotel is located to a very quiet little street between the city's main road and the beautiful square, Corps Saints. The hotel's owners are very helpful, really love their job and this make you understand the meaning of Hospitality. Almost all the hotel's facilities are much better than what you expect in a this category's hotel. Very clean and quiet. We really liked this city and we surely suggest the hotel Colbert for a very enjoyable stay. Dimitris

We recently stayed at Le Colbert during our trip to southern France, and it was by far our most charming and comfortable accommodations. The rooms and baths were spacious (a rarity in France) and the lush courtyard and cheerful breakfast room are beautiful and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located within the walls of the city. But what really adds value to the Le Colbert experience is the chance to get advice on dining and side trips from Patrice and Annie, the hoteliers. Patrice was right on the money with his restaurant recommendations - and when we strayed and found our own places, we felt that we didn't receive the same value for our euro. So I recommend taking the time to talk with Patrice and trying his suggestions!

Hotel le Colbert is charming and conveniently situated just inside the walls of the old town – minutes to all travelers mostly wish to see in Avignon. Patrice and Annie are perfect hosts. Many thanks to them.

Located on a quaint and quiet street, Hotel Le Colbert is an excellent place to use as a home base while touring Avignon and the surrounding area of Provence. The rooms are extremely comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Patrice and Annie are terrific hosts, assisting their guests without hesitation. Breakfast in the dining room or walled patio is a special treat, especially since Annie puts together an appetizing meal. I'd highly recommed this place to anyone and will definitely return there when I revisit Provence.

We used tripadvisor reviews to find this hotel in Avignon, which fortunately had rooms available the next day for us. It was no disappointment, as Le Colbert is a very nice place to stay.
It is very quiet, but still close to where things happen in Avignon. The hotelier was very nice, although his wife seemed to have had a bad day when we were there.

The 10 euro breakfast is not a bargain, so if you are on a budget you can skip it for cheaper fare.

Hotel le Colbert is charming, convenient and welcoming. Patrice and Annie at Hotel le Colbert were great hosts. We stayed for 5 nights in June and enjoyed our stay very much. It is beautifully decorated in bright Provencal colours and Annie's breakfasts were lovely. Lively art and theatre posters covered the walls and the breakfast room was filled with wrought iron furniture and colourful tableware. In true small European hotel fashion there was no elevator but a wide spiral staircase. The hotel was conveniently located and provided easy access to restaurants, shopping, sights and to the train station. Patrice was very helpful and interested in our daily adventures. We would recommend without reservation.
