This is a standout attraction if you are staying in or visiting Avignon with young children. There are few green public parks within the city walls, making Rocher des Doms all the more valuable. Kids can run around, check out the fish in the grotto, enjoy the playground or burn around on the 'pedal horses' (can be hired for a small fee). The views over Provence are very pretty and you can see 360 degrees from the highest point. There is a cafe near the duck pond for the obligatory ice cream, but I wouldn't recommend the coffee... yuk. All in all a nice spot to escape the Avignon cobblestones.
