“Absolutely Perfect!”

I don't know where to start!--there are so many positive things I want to say!

So, starting at the beginning, Michel was very quick to reply to my reservation request. I had a lot of questions, and he was very patient in responding to them. His pre-visit information was very helpful.

We (3 couples traveling together) stayed with Françoise and Michel after taking a week-long Viking river cruise. While the cruise was certainly a memorable experience, we all agreed that staying with the Girards was truly the highlight of our 3 weeks in France. We had a chance to see what it's like behind those walled "villas" that you see all over the country. And, we had a chance to get to know two of the loveliest people in all of France. Beyond a doubt, they were so very delightful.

The location was perfect: an easy drive to quite a few sites that you won't want to miss. Our rooms were very comfortable, decorated with a lot of tasteful treasures our host and hostess acquired through their own extensive travels. Also, lots of country "antique" furniture. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers. The pool was sparkling clean. Our bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. The views were breathtaking. The grounds were very neatly kept, with lots of lovely flowers, herbs, and beautiful trees. It was very quiet and peaceful--hard to believe you were just a few minutes away from Avignon's crazy "rat race" of traffic and lots of people.

Breakfast each morning was a full breakfast- eggs, bread, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, etc. You picked the time for breakfast to be served. Michel had delicious coffee ready for those who rose early. Because we like to experience local foods, we decided to have our lovely hostess, Francoise, prepare dinner each night. What a treat! Two in our group are vegetarians, and that presented no problem to Francoise. She would go to the market each day to find the very freshest items to prepare for our dinner. Our favorite dinner was the local, freshly caught fish prepared in a typical Provençal style. Yum! She also used the herbs from her garden, and olive oil from the trees on the property for the meal preparation. And the wines they served with dinner were very nice, too.

We speak just a tiny bit of French (and not that well, either), but we did not have a problem communicating with Michel. He knew enough English, and when we couldn't find the words, Siri (iphone) was able to fill in. Every evening, we would tell Michel what we planned to do the next day. In the morning, Michele would have maps ready for us, and would make the best suggestions- such as what we should spend more time visiting, and where to stop for photos. He was spot on.

There is so much more that I could say about our wonderful stay. But to sum it up, we have never before felt so welcome in someone's home. The Girards went: Above. And. Way. Beyond. what hosts usually do for their guests. I would go back again. And again. It was so relaxing to be there in the evenings after crazy days of sightseeing. We highly recommend this perfect Bed and Breakfast.

Michel and Francoise, we all miss you, and hope our paths will cross again. Thank you for all you did, especially to make us feel welcome and comfortable. It feels as if we have extended family--or at the very least, dear friends at Lou Souvadou.

If any readers wish to contact me, I will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our experience at this B&B.

“Wonderful Place to Relax and Enjoy the South of France”
Reviewed June 28, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed for 5 days with our sons and girlfriends. It is a house about 20 minutes out of Avignon in a very quite area away from traffic and noise. The grounds are beautiful and you overlook the valley. You have a wonderful breakfast cooked and served by the very friendly owners, Michel and Francoise. They also can prepare dinner for you; we had dinner prepared by them every night. Every dish they prepared was wonderful; the best eating during our 2 week stay in Europe.
The owners are wonderful people who share the house with you and are great hosts. Michel was very helpful with suggestions for day trips. He is fluent in French, Spanish, and communicates well in English.
Our whole group really enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely return.

“A wonderful week at Lou Sauvadou”
Reviewed May 21, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We were two couples on a week's holiday and Lou Sauvadou proved a comfortable and convenient base for exploring Provence from Avignon to Aix and from the Roman ruins of Arles to the "village perches" of the Luberon.

Michel and Francoise Girard were most hospitable and accommodating, offering full breakfasts daily and very tasty dinners (with wine and with herbs from their garden) on request. While their English and our French was limited, communication was no problem. In fact, it was fun (with Google Translator filling in the blanks). When the weather turned damp and grey, Michel prepared a warm fire.

The rooms were comfortable. One was ensuite; two shared a bath.
On-site parking and laundry were most convenient.

GPS was invaluable in locating Lou Sauvadou amid the tight, hillside homes above Sauveterre. The views from Lou Sauvadou were a treat, especially with the sun rising behind Mt. Ventoux.

Their two dogs were the quietest, most unobtrusive pets I've seen.

We would happily book here again. Bob, Shelley, Spike, and Cam

They have received a lot of fantastic reviews in the past. Eveyone who gave them 5 stars were so right. If we could give them 6 we would. Michel and Francois are charming and wonderful hosts. The dinners they made for us incredible and the property and views were magnificent
We truly hope to return.

“Gracious hospitality in a lovely location”
Reviewed October 8, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Francoise and Michel were delightful and solicitous hosts, without being intrusive, and they also provided light breakfasts and delicious evening meals for us. Lou Sauvadou has everything one needs and has outstanding views over the Rhone valley, toward Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Le Mont Ventoux. Sauveterre enjoys a great central location from which to do day trips around the vineyards and to Avignon, Aix, Orange, Le Pont du Gard, Marseille, Uzes and other amazing Roman and mediaeval sites. We flew to/from Marseilles airport and hired a car from there, less than an hour's ride from Sauveterre: couldn't have been easier. Altogether just the relaxation we needed. We'll be back!
