“Great value & service in an ideal location.”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

Excellent, very helpful service & assistance from start to finish. Our room (#6) was ideal for a couple; large enough, with a spacious bath room. Very little street noise. Decor is 'homely' and although the bath room was somewhat dated, everything worked & there was plenty of hot water. There is central heating (you control the radiator thermostat), air-con (not used!) and free Wi-Fi. Plus TV, coffee, tea & a fridge with a mini-bar. There was also a safe. The only real downside is that anyone with any kind of reduced mobility might struggle a bit with the 2 flights of relatively steep spiral stairs. There are rooms on the ground floor which might be preferable if available. The hotel is just 2 minutes from the main sqaure, and 5 minutes from the secure, underground car parks (17.50 Euros for 2 nights parking). Overall, Avignon is a great place to visit, certainly for a weekend and the Garlande is an excellent base for exploring the city.

It is the most spacious hotel that we ever stay. Great location, very friendly and helpful staffs. Not just the normal kind of helpful but really really friendly and helpful. We felt like staying in a cousin's house. These you'll never find in a five star hotel. if you are hesitating to book this hotel..go for it!!! :)

Friendly, very helpful information, Stefan (the owner, who speak English well) even helped us find a nearby gas station. Location is perfect for us who don't mind walk around to all attractions.

Excellent restaurant suggestions.

We are in room #5 (or #8) with window face to the street, vintage view but light morning noise, which is fine with us.

Our Garmin GPS works fine in this city, parking is about 5 minute walk from this hotel and you get discount.

We will stay in this hotel if we visit again.

Room Tip: No safe in comfort room, if you need one, upgrade to superior room.

This was a great little hotel set back around from the main street in Avignon so it was nice and quiet.

We had a room right at the top of the hotel that looked out over the lane/street towards restaurants. The room was slightly small for two of us, especially with our suitcases, but overall it was very clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. Nice bathroom as well although it did make this loud noise every time it was used owing to the water pressure but no big deal.
We only had breakfast there once but they put on an amazing spread of cereals and breads and fruits plus tea + coffee - couldnt fault it.

The owners are wonderful and very pleasant and extremely helpful. The hotel was a quick walk to restaurants close by and also the main square leading to the Palais de Papes. Overall a great hotel for a short stay.

Room Tip: If you have a lot of heavy luggage, get a room on a lower floor as there is no lift!

Probably the most spacious room I had during my entire stay in France, and for the value. Great location for walking the streets (although it's easy to get lost in the winding cobblestone streets of Avignon!). Emmanuelle was amazingly helpful and welcoming...she spent plenty of time giving me advice on where to go and what to see, and patiently answered all of my other questions. Her assistant Diego was extremely nice. Wifi was readily accessible as soon as you walk in the room. The breakfast was simple but all you needed. I would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Garlande on a bed and breakfast basis. We received a room upgrade and were made to feel most welcome. The hotel owners couldn't have done more for us, we were given lots of useful information when we first arrived together with maps and recommendations of where to eat and visit. All staff at the hotel were most pleasant and made us feel at home, we have already passed on details of Hotel Garlande to our friends. The breakfast was wonderful and not to be missed.

This is a charming hotel. The location is excellent - right in the heart of the historical town center, and an easy walk from the City Center train station (or the shuttle to the TGV). The room was large, very clean, comfortable and quite nicely decorated. Emmanuelle and her staff were very friendly and helpful; they provided plenty of information and clearly wanted to make sure I enjoyed my stay. I felt very welcome. There is no lift, but the gentleman at the desk carried my suitcase upstairs for me. The homemade yogurt (and jam) for breakfast were excellent! Don't skip it! The only thing that would have made me happier on the rainy evening I was there was a kettle to make tea in my room. I would look forward to a chance to stay there again.
