The location couldn't have been better.
It is a bit difficult to find your way through the walled old town by car. We were pleased to eventually find a car park, sadly it wasn't the one the hotel has an arrangement with.
Staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful.
The room was tastefully furnished and clean but room and bathroom were absolutely tiny!!
There was a young lady in charge of the breakfast room. She only spoke French and struggled to clean tables and refill the buffet at the same time. We cleaned our own table but when we realised that there was no cutlery, no more ham and fruit we thought 17 Euros per person are a bit too much and decided to have breakfast elsewhere.

Stayed at the Hotel de l'Horloge in Avignon for one night. The hotel is located in the centre of Avignon just off the main square, really good for getting about on foot. The room was really nice, very clean and a good size for two of us sharing. We did have to park in the Popes Palace carpark which was a short distance from the hotel, but they do validate your ticket so that you can get 20%. We parked on a Sunday, so it was free.

This hotel is situated in an excellent location, near many good restaurants and shops. The condition it is kept at is also excellent. It truly represents the beautiful town which is Avignon. Very comfortable, extremely polite staff, and great value. My only complain is the wireless internet. It didn't work well most of the times.

We booked this hotel on the recommendation of other tripadvisor users. We were thrilled. We stayed for one week in May. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The room was delightful - especially liked having a terrace room. The hotel is central to everything. We will stay again when we visit Avignon. Wonderful- a highlight of our holiday.

Room Tip: A terrace room is a real bonus.

Decided to use the Eurostar and TGV to Avignon for a long weekend to taste the regions wine.
Hotel de l'Horloge looked and sounded like a great base from where to discover the city on foot and public transport. Good job we upgraded to Superior rooms! Not a great amount of space in the rooms and "bijou" and "boutique" very descriptive. Helpful - if needed - reception staff. If visiting in summer months make sure the airconditioning is working!! It was so hot in the rooms and even with window open, not mush air. Everything very close by to reach on foot and good restaurants in the side streets. Stay well away from the main square restaurants which are, as expected, not up to much and do charge for it if you do sit for a drink. Can thoroughly recommend "Avignon Wine tours" with Francois. What a great day! Informative and so much fun. "You drink, they drive!" Would certainly return to Avignon to visit further afield but would think about a different hotel maybe.

Room Tip: Superior room as the smaller ones must be tiny!

This hotel is located in easy walking distance to the Papal Palace and its square and is adjacent to numerour cafes with in and out-of-doors seating and restaurants. It is clean, apparently well run and kept our luggage in their luggage room during the time between check out and our taxi to the airport (which they arranged). The old city is very walkable and not too touristy. But in the hotel - on the fifth floor - is a room with a balcony and an outside shower! And we were lucky enough to get it. Nothing like an open air shower on a warm day in the middle of a (albeit small) city. Then sitting outside and listening to the bells toll while you dry off.

Room Tip: 5th floor room with balcony and outdoor shower

Our greeting on arrival made us feel immediately welcome. The reception manager even allowed me to test out my French, filling in the gaps when I struggled. He later gave us great restaurant recommendations. The second major plus was the location, right in the heart of ancient Avignon. Our room on the 4th floor was a little sparse. No drawers for our clothes, which isn't too bad for one night, but for three we would have liked to have been able to unpack. The bathroom was adequate, if a little small. Over the bath shower. It was a pleasant change to have a separate wc. Breakfast at €17 a head didn't appeal to us, so we took breakfast round the corner at the cafe des thes. We'd hunt around for a more modern hotel next time.
