“Our trip splurge, but worth it!”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

My husband and I have travelled extensively in Europe, but have never been to this region together. When my requested airplane upgrades did not pan out, we opted instead for a luxury hotel as our "treat".
La Mirande is small, exclusive, quiet, and elegantly beautiful. The bed was big and comfortable, the service friendly ( even to us Americans), and the food superb. We did the basement kitchen table d'hote one night, which was fun and delicious. Jean Claude, the chef is magical with the food, and very entertaining.. It was nice to meet other international travelers.
We used Avignon as our base, and drove around each day, but if you have the leisure, one could just stay at this beautiful hotel for a few days and take it all in.. Merci, La Mirande... I hope to be back some day.

Room Tip: Each room is uniquely decorated. My thoughtful sister called ahead and ordered a bottle of Chataneu...

We spent 3 days here after taking the TVG from Paris the last week of March. The TVG is a no brainer and fast.

We had stayed here in January 2013 and enjoyed it so much that we came back with our 2 yound adult children. The hotel is enchanting and every facet of the hotel was perfect, as it was the last time. We had a room overlooking the courtyard and the Papes. Could not have been more perfect.

The location is perfect. GO!

Ok it's a little difficult to find (turn right at Place des Horlogue and watch out for the little yellow sign on the left) but once you arrive, a friendly welcome awaits. This is a perfect restoration of a historic building right opposite the Palace des Papes. We had a 'grand' room on the 2 nd floor - consistently furnished and decorated in Versailles style. Clever trick was the tv in the antique mirror. Large opulent marble bathroom with 2 sinks, shower and bath.

There is a large garden, lots of little alcove seating areas and a sunny breakfast room.

Memorable haut French cuisine dinner with local wines..

Avignon itself is beautiful and a perfect weekend.

Literally, across the street from the Palais Papal. Beautifully decorated. The rooms were great. Greeted by friendly staff. Found oranges, cookies, water waiting for us in the room. Would recommend highly and do it again. Fabulous!

Cute and quaint hotel. The staff was very friendly. The room was big and the bathroom had a separate shower and tub with double sinks. It was also a clean room. You do have to take stairs to the rooms. The buffet breakfast was wonderful, so many choices. It was so nice just to sit outside in the courtyard to enjoy a meal or a drink. The hotel is right next to the Palais de Pope and walking distance to everything in town. The town is not that big. It is a short cab ride from the train station to the hotel.

We spent one night in La Mirande in early January 2014. And what a shame we did not spend more nights! It is, as the previous reviewer writes, 'an oasis of peace' in the centre of historic Avignon, with plenty of walks to do, and monuments and museums to visit just a few metres away. It is beautifully decorated by the present owners, who have done a wonderful job renovating this grand historic building. And yet it is extremely cozy. One feels like one might be visiting a very wealthy old Aunt, who has instructed you to relax and who has taken care of everything for you. We loved it so much, we even bought the book on the Hotel! The chef, Jean-Claude Aubertin, is absolutely amazing. It is worth visiting the Hotel just for the food if you are not particularly keen on sightseeing. The sommelier, too, who is from Avignon, is equally as passionate. What an absolute pleasure. We will be back. Great taste. Great food. Bravo!

If you are tired walking around this beautiful city of Avignon, and you long for some peace and elegance, you should visit this hotel, in case you may not afford to stay in it.
It's pleasant, an oasis of peace and tranquility, and the ambiance of a somehow decaying beauty
will compensate you, and you will remember it for a long time
The service is very good, the garden is wonderful, the relaxation in its gorgeous veranda worth
a lot.
Tackled behind The Palace of the Popes, very centrally located, is one of the other than historical monuments, jewels of Avignon.

Room Tip: Avoid the summer months.
