Cute and quaint hotel. The staff was very friendly. The room was big and the bathroom had a separate shower and tub with double sinks. It was also a clean room. You do have to take stairs to the rooms. The buffet breakfast was wonderful, so many choices. It was so nice just to sit outside in the courtyard to enjoy a meal or a drink. The hotel is right next to the Palais de Pope and walking distance to everything in town. The town is not that big. It is a short cab ride from the train station to the hotel.

We spent one night in La Mirande in early January 2014. And what a shame we did not spend more nights! It is, as the previous reviewer writes, 'an oasis of peace' in the centre of historic Avignon, with plenty of walks to do, and monuments and museums to visit just a few metres away. It is beautifully decorated by the present owners, who have done a wonderful job renovating this grand historic building. And yet it is extremely cozy. One feels like one might be visiting a very wealthy old Aunt, who has instructed you to relax and who has taken care of everything for you. We loved it so much, we even bought the book on the Hotel! The chef, Jean-Claude Aubertin, is absolutely amazing. It is worth visiting the Hotel just for the food if you are not particularly keen on sightseeing. The sommelier, too, who is from Avignon, is equally as passionate. What an absolute pleasure. We will be back. Great taste. Great food. Bravo!

If you are tired walking around this beautiful city of Avignon, and you long for some peace and elegance, you should visit this hotel, in case you may not afford to stay in it.
It's pleasant, an oasis of peace and tranquility, and the ambiance of a somehow decaying beauty
will compensate you, and you will remember it for a long time
The service is very good, the garden is wonderful, the relaxation in its gorgeous veranda worth
a lot.
Tackled behind The Palace of the Popes, very centrally located, is one of the other than historical monuments, jewels of Avignon.

Room Tip: Avoid the summer months.

A very romantic and beautifully decorated hotel with the aura of the Edwardian period. Antique furniture and Edwardian style fittings simply beautiful. Fantastic central location overlooking the Palias des Papes. Lovely courtyard garden where meals are served al fresco in the warmer months.
The rooms whilst very stylish with French period decor are very comfortable with modern facilities, including A/C.
The large antique wall mirror in our room had incorporated into it a flat screen TV...very clever.
The bar lounge area has a very large open fire and medieval decor, with squashy sofas and beautiful armchairs, creating an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Drinks are served directly to you with petit aperitf snacks in the lounge.
Breakfast was very well prepared....huge array of foods, fruits and confits, best ever creamy scrambled eggs and discreetly served.
Staff exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: A very quiet location adjacent to the Palace of Popes

Once you master the narrow roads of historic downtown of Avignon, you arrive in this little gem of the city. Very good location just steps from the historic part of town. Beautiful lobby, bar and restaurant. Rooms are nice. I wouldn't call them spectacular but they are comfy. Decor is traditional French and not exactly my favorite but ok. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast service was mediocre and food too. Service otherwise was great. I really enjoyed the bar and the proximity to downtown. Would come back.

Quite, stylish hotel right in the old town of Avignon. Immediately across a narrow street from the Palace des Popes. Perfect location for walking old town. For a vacation highlight attend the famous cooking school in the hotel's restaurant. Pay a little more and book the larger room category.

Room Tip: Book the larger room.

We loved this hotel for many of the reasons stated in other reviews. I would also like to add that the staff was very helpful and friendly without being over the top or intrusive. We were worried about the decor being too "tuttie fruttie" for our taste, but it worked and did not seem over the top either. And the view from our room window of the pope's palace... Lets just say I took way too many photos of that view! Driving in Avignon and to the hotel was a challenge, especially the first time we went through the ballustrades, but once you get the hang of it, it was no problem. If you are a runner or walker, it is a quick jaunt through the old city walls to a path alongside the river. For a longer quieter walk/run, cross the river on the right side of the bridge and go down a flight of steps to a really nice river trail on the quiet island on the other side. Great to get some open space and fresh air, not to mention the killer view of the city from the other side.

Room Tip: Go for the view of the Popes Palace if you can get it!
