My aged parents and I stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the courtesy, friendliness, willingness 'to go the extra mile' and the sheer quality of the staff at this lovely old hotel.

The food in the hotel's restaurant is really worth sampling too:just exquisite!

All-in-all,it is definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'.I'd return tomorrow!

We chose this hotel for a one night stay in Avignon based on Trip Advisor reviews - and we were not disappointed. We loved the Hotel d'Europe. It is elegant and welcoming with friendly, helpful staff.
We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a beautiful large, high ceilinged, room. The bathroom was modern with all the extra touches, including robes.
The hotel courtyard is an oasis of calm. Hotel location is ideal, just inside the city walls of Avignon, a couple of minutes walk from the River. We are already planning to go back for a longer stay. This was our favourite hotel during a 10 night cycle trip around Provence.

We spent only 1 night in AVignon at this hotel. The hotel was easy to find and is well positioned for exploring Avignon. Our room was bright and spacious and very comfortable. We would definately stay here again.

Look no further, this is the place to stay in Avigon if you like classic French charm and want to be transported to the leisurely ways of days gone by. This hotel is classy, warm and gracious. The staff is sophisicated, helpful and friendly. The rooms are cozy, intimate and quiet. Treat yourself -- you will come away refreshed and reminded of what life is all about.

This hotel is simply a gem! It has absolutely everything that my wife and I needed on this trip to Avignon. First off, since we were driving, it was very easy to get to and hotel provides valet parking - drive up right to the hotel, unload and give them the key - very convenient. There is no additional charge or tip required for the valet service, so it is not a rip-off device - just a great service. Hotel itself is simply top notch. It is located in the heart of old Avignon in a historic building. All of the interior is simply sumptuous. Staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are really gorgeous. We stayed in a Classic room - and it was just plain great. It had a nice view of the city, bed was very comfy with plenty of pillows. Bathrooms were very clean, modern with nice fixtures. Towels were just great - in fact my wife bought their washcloths because she loved them so much - made in Italy by a specialty manufacturer. Hotel has a lift - so no problems with lugging your stuff up the stairs. AC worked great, so we were very comfortable. We didn't try the restaurant - since there were so many options just outside it on place Crillon. I highly highly recommend Hotel D'Europe!

We stayed at Hotel D'Europe during the long French national weekend in August (the 15th) for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We booked our room online so received a discount, which was great.

The hotel is simply beautiful. I couldn't stop taking photos of the courtyard, with its vines and plants and flowers. The room was wonderful - charmingly decorated, very clean and great bathroom with a huge bathtub.

The minor issues we had were these:
1) NOISE! We were in room 216, which is next to the service elevator on the 2nd floor. The elevator is very quiet. The cleaning staff is NOT. Two mornings in a row at 8:30am I had to leave my room in my pajamas to ask the cleaning staff to please stop shouting (and they were indeed shouting) in the hall.

2) BREAKFAST. 33 euros we paid for 4 tiny croissants, some orange juice and coffee. The "buffet" is indeed laughable. I live in France and have travelled all over France and Europe. This was the biggest gap in price-quality I have ever seen. Skip the hotel breakfast and head to the bakery up the street for flaky wonderful croissants (1 euro).

3) INFORMATION. The front desk staff lack knowledge. I asked how much a taxi to the train station should cost, and they simply didn't know and had to ask around. We also asked to find the organic market, highlighted in a brochure found in our room, and they had no idea what or where it was. Not a big deal, but for a high-quality hotel, we expected more.

Otherwise, the hotel is lovely and although the staff are lacking knowledge, they are kind and polite.

We have just spent 4 fabulous nights at the Hotel d'Europe. The biggest delight was arriving to find that we had been upgraded to a superior room with it's own sun terrace. Even if this had not been the case we cannot speak highly enough of this elegant and classy hotel. Yes it is expensive but worth every penny with friendly and helpful staff. The courtyard was the highlight for us. It was an oasis of peace; shaded, breezy and beautiful. We took breakfast there every morning, even at 7 am on our last morning prior to an early train. Not the full buffet, but just coffee and croissants at a very reasonable 6 Euros per person. We also had a light meal there each evening in the candlelit ambiance of the courtyard, rather than squash into the more touristy venues around the city. Picnic lunches we bought from Les Halles market - bread, cheese, tomatoes an fruit for 5 Euros for two! We are not keen on crowds but found it perfectly possible to avoid these in Avignon even in the popular spots. We had the Pont D'Avignon to ourselves at 8.30 one evening and how striking it looked in the dusk. We must recommend a bus ride over the river to Villeneuve lez Avignon and a visit to the Abbey gardens within the Fort. They were spectacular and there were only about 8 people there! We also took the train to Arles with it's little winding streets and amazing Roman history. We traveled to Avignon from Yorkshire by train and thoroughly recommend it!
