“Magnificent setting, classic historic mansion, lovely courtyard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

We did not stay at this hotel, but while walking around town we saw the beautiful, inviting courtyard and stopped for a break The charming waitress told us the history of the hotel and we took a short tour of the stately interior We had great service and satisfying ice tea and a slice of tasty apple pie in the courtyard, complete with cloth napkins The ice tea was 6 euros and the pie was 7 euros--not cheap but the experience was worth every penny (or in this case worth every Euro cent) This hotel deserves its 5 star rating

We have travelled Europe and this hotel is one of the best for the price...I don't mean that this is a budget hotel, it is truly a 1st class establishment. The bar is fantastic and the team working the bar are friendly and remember you...my drink was ready when I walked into the bar!
The rooms are clean, fresh and very comfortable.
Fernando at the front desk will give you recommendations for fantastic place to eat and will set up places based on your recommendation.
We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the courtyard.

An incredible hotel with equally amazing staff. The bar and restaurant were impressive, great wine and bar list. The room was spacious and comfortable, multiple lounges throughout the hotel to read or work in instead of staying in the room. Had wifi and computers for guest use, very handy. Also a great shower. Staff very accommodating.

We stayed at the Hotel D'Europe in April 2013 and loved it. From the moment we arrived the service was perfect. It is a very well run hotel. We have travelled to a lot of European towns and parking is usually a nightmare. This hotel makes parking in a historic old town easy and stress free. The staff were extremely efficient with checking us in and taking us to our room, which was beautifully decorated and a good size. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring all the sites of Avignon. We will definitely be returning to the Hotel D'Europe in the future and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We usually book all of our hotels with an internet hotel booking site but found that the hotel was o...

My husband and I spent one night at this beautiful hotel on our way back to Paris but we wished we could have stayed longer. From the minute we pulled up we knew it was something special. It has a very nice location, just inside the city walls walking distance to bridge and all of the nice restaurants. We had dinner out but came back for a drink at the beautiful hotel bar. The rooms are decorated very tastefully and the bathrooms are very updated. The word that describes this hotel best is...elegant.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel D'Europe for 4 days in March 2013. Her cousin and his wife joined us on our first night. Their room was one of the smallest and off the front of the hotel, which was a bit noisy on Saturday night. They asked the friendly, multilingual reception staff to move them. Not only were they moved to one of the nicest rooms but, knowing that we were together, they offered to move us to room 101, just across from 102 (their room). These two rooms are among the nicest hotel rooms that we have ever stayed in! We were told that Napoleon had stayed in 101 and Josephine had stayed in 102. The experience in this hotel was unparalleled. The food, the service, the quality of the beds and furnishings were simply amazing. Its location was great. However, what really made the stay exceptional was the care and concern of the staff, especially Marcela, Amandine, Lianna, and Johan who deserve special praise. I booked the hotel because I could not find one negative review about it. I now see why that was the case. I give this hotel my highest recommendation without any reservations. Simply one of the best stays in any hotel, ever.

Room Tip: Rooms 101 and 102 are very similar and wonderful. The special feature is that there is a vestibule t...

+++
+ excellent location near the center
+ very good decor, generally with a lot of rare furniture and decor items
+ internet is easy to connect and works throughout the building
+ own parking with valet service
+ friendly and helpful staff
+ parts of the hotel are freshly refurbished, including the lobby, bar and restaurant, and most of the rooms (I guess)

---
- beware of red rooms! Unless you like red walls, there are just two dark red rooms in the hotel. We were booked in one if them by accident and had to change it.
- slow Internet
- the hotel is 200+ years old with layers of refurbishment. So the electric switches feel like they've been changed in the 80s, marble in the bathroom looked more like 90s, etc, etc
