We cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. It's so quaint yet has all the comforts you expect. Our room was large and the bathroom was bigger than my own at home. It was hot when we were there and the air conditioning worked full force. Such a nice place to come back and take a break from the heat. The staff was friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely excellent great historical hotel. Napoleon Bonaparte stayed there in 1799. Large room. Restaurant excellent menu and food. Iberian pork is to die for !!!! Easy walk to historical sites. Numerous restaurants within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: First floor is best.

I stayed at a half dozen hotels during this trip to France and nothing really stands out about this one for me. My room was OK, but the bathroom was a bit dated. The valet parking was expensive and not the easiest to navigate. Lunch in the courtyard was pleasant but pricey. The hotel is at the edge of the old city. There are numerous restaurants and shops in walking distance.

We took Eurostar to Avignon for a week and booked at this hotel. When we arrived we felt a bit disappointed as did not feel 5* but after a night's sleep viewed it wholly differently. It is a very gracious and friendly hotel, nothing too much trouble. Our (superior) room was very quiet at the back. The hotel has tremendous history and is situated in a small square which has about five inexpensive bars and cafes dotted around. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the Palais de Popes and not much more from the old Avignon Bridge. Make sure you get a joint ticket for these for savings plus a must is an Avignon Passion Pass, available from tourist sites plus tourist office and get money off other attractions ie boat trips and Provence tours by minibus etc.

Room Tip: A room on the front might be noisy as some bars outside do not close till 1.30

6 of us stayed here in the summer and found it delightful. It was the second hotel in TripAdvisor's top 25 for 2012 in which we had stayed and it was of a high standard. The concierges were helpful and well-informed and made restaurant reservations for us. Our only two disappointments were that we could not dine in the restaurant which is highly recommended by Michelin, as it was closed on that evening, even to residents. Our other gripe was that when we checked out and collected our cars from the garage parking, which was conveniently close, we were surprised to find a non-discretionary 10 euros added to all our bills for porterage, something we have never encountered before. Apart from this it was a great experience. The outdoor courtyard was charming with water, doves and flowers. The free wifi was a bonus and the lounges and bars were restful and well-appointed.

We chose this hotel as we were told it was a more traditional french hotel where Napoleon once stayed in the 18th Century. The rooms are traditionally decorated however the hotel is not old or run down, on the contrary very well maintained. The location is just inside the city walls and we had valet parking at 18 euro per day (which I recommend you take) as there is very little street parking. The hotel also has a beautiful garden where you have your breakfast. You can see alot of history just in the hotel. The room was a good size and beautifully decorated. The lighting is a little dark but that's the look of the room. We were facing the back and there was a nighclub below us so a little noisy if you keep the windows open at night.Service by the staff was exceptional, they managed to find us a restaurant who was prepared to make a traditional bouilabaise in summer (since it's a winter dish). The only fault is the wi-fi was poor however overall we enjoyed our stay and we would come again.

Room Tip: Noisy if you are in the back of the hotel looking over the street.

I can't add much more to the other reviews, except to say that we initially only booked 3 nights but loved the hotel so much that we extended our stay for the whole of our week in the area. The staff were always friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was very comfortable. The location itself is great - just within the walls of the old city. The courtyard (which is also used for eating and drinking) is simply lovely. We had a great week there.
