“great location”
Reviewed October 9, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

A nice apartment in a great location for exploring Avignon. Catherine, who met us at the apartment was very accommodating when our train was an hour late and had several good tips on where to shop, eat and visit in and around Avignon.

“A lovely stay but a couple of niggles”
Reviewed June 2, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We had a great week in Avignon - it's a fantastic place and a great base from which to do a lot more sightseeing. The apartment itself is really well located on a quiet street. We were met by Catherine who was extremely friendly and helpful, providing lots of recommendations of local food and drink options as well as sightseeing tips. I would recommend calling her the day before to arrange the meet up if you can as she tries to be accommodating.
The apartment is very cosy and traditional in style and the terrace is amazing; you can be in the sun from 8am-6pm and there's a lot of space and you're not overlooked.
That was definitely one of the pros; others were excellent wifi, no issue with deposit, good hob and constant hot water. The key niggle was the noises in the apartment. There's a cooker clock which I couldn't switch off and then the extractor fan which is a slave to The Mistral. It clatters all through the night when it's windy. The other small thing is that the bathroom areas are a bit tired and unloved but definitely feel authentic Provençal so it's swings and roundabouts. There's an iron and ironing board too which the inventory doesn't mention but is handy to know.
I would recommend it to couples looking for a great location and some sun in Avignon.

Management Response

Thanks for the feedback. It is always useful. Regarding your 2 minor noise niggles, you could have mentioned them to Catherine as they would both have been addressable. The cooker can be turned off at the panel, and the extractor can be anchored so it doesn't move with the wind. I am glad you had a good stay overall.

“Apartment with Character in a Prime Location”

We arrived early afternoon by Eurostar and it took just 15 minutes to walk to the apartment, even though we were well-laden with rucksacks. Using directions from Google Maps, the property was easy to find and even though we seemed to be veering away from the city centre, it turned out to be only a short walk to all the attractions from the end of 'our' road. We'd agreed a meet time with the agent, Catherine, and although it took a phone call to remind her, she was the epitome of helpfulness when she arrived, showed us round the flat, and helped us get our bearings, recommending restaurants, shopping and places to see. From the narrow street, the front door opens onto an internal stone staircase and the whole accommodation is upstairs. The let comprises a lounge in the centre, an open plan galley kitchen to one side and access to bedrooms and bathroom at the other. The main bedroom was divided from the lounge by a curtain, the bed firm, with white linen and spotlessly clean (all linen and towels provided by the way and all perfectly clean). The other bedroom was up a staircase over bedroom 1, and onto a mezzanine. It's a reasonably steep open wooden staircase, and I wouldn't recommend it for small children. Our girls are teenagers and they were very careful when ascending, but especially descending. The bathroom was via the lower bedroom, and equiped with a bath, efficient shower and plenty of storage space. There was a tumble dryer too (and washing machine in the kitchen) but we pretended not to see them! The toilet was at the head of the staircase up from the front door and despite fears that one of us was going to fall down the stairs after stumbling out of the loo in the night, it was absolutely fine. The kitchen worked well for us, and we spent several evenings cooking and dining 'at home' - usually out on the terrace. Incidentally, make sure you shop at Les Halles, the nearby covered market, especially the fish counter, and make the most of excellent local goats' cheeses and spectacular rosés. In fact, it was all good as you'd expect in France. The terrace was large and well-equipped, with table and chairs and parasol for shade, and was very peaceful. All in all, we'd thoroughly recommend this apartment for its excellent location, its charm and especially the terrace where we spent many happy hours.

“Calm in the heart of the city”

This lovely apartment is in a quiet street but very close to the centre of Avignon and all of its attractions. We enjoyed the terrace with its outlook over olive and lemon trees and ate many meals out there in the sunshine watching the swifts circle overhead. Catherine (who looks after the apartment) welcomed us on arrival and gave us lots of tips on where to shop and to visit in Avignon and the area - she even brought us a gift of cheese from the Ardeche, where she lives! We had a great week's stay.

“So good I want to come back!”
Reviewed February 2, 2012 for a stay in January 2012

Ian Ball's house was great for us: we loved the location a few minutes from Place PIe and its yummy market, as well as the pedestrian streets of Avignon. Quaint little street, very quiet but only a block away from the bigger street.
Kitchen was very user friendly to cook the fresh produce from the market. Sitting area comfortable, as were the beds. Bathroom with a bathtub, and plenty hot water. Loved the WC's little handbasin!
