Great location right on the main avenue in the Old Town and almost directly across from the tourist information center make this hotel a convenient place to stay in Avignon You can easily walk anywhere from here in the Old Town. Once you enter the hotel you have to go up a few steps to the desk--there is a small lobby area and two very small elevators, one serving the south building and one the north--the elevator could handle only two people with luggage at one time--very inconvenient. The staff at the desk was pleasant and very helpful, even calling to make dinner reservations for you.
The rooms are rather small, ours was about 15 X 15 with a pretty good king size bed taking up alot of space. There is no real storage for clothes, just some shelves--we stayed 4 nights on a tour and had to keep most of our clothes in our suitcases. The room had a small flat screen TV with only one English station, a stocked fridge (everything was a charge), a tiny safe (too small for a Samsung tablet but we could keep passports in it), but no coffee/tea maker which was a real negative. One very big plus is the free wifi which works well in the rooms. We had a very large bathroom (and could keep one of our suitcases in there). That room had a tub, but curiously, no shower curtain or safety bars--taking a shower was quite a trick trying to keep the floor from getting soaking wet--do not understand why no shower curtain. Another problem with hotel was the fact that it is made up of different buildings, so on some floors you have to drag your luggage up at many as 8 or 9 steps to get to your room
Our tour group had an adequate buffet breakfast each morning--scrambled eggs, good sausages some mornings, bacon other mornings, cold cerals, pastry, bread, fruit, very good coffee and tea. A good start to the morning.
We had room 317 on the south side, near the front. Sometimes we heard street noise, street cleaning equipment and on Saturday night pounding music late into the night--luckily we had ear plugs to shut out some of the noise. It might be a good idea to get a room in the rear.
There are many dining options within a few blocks of the hotel, a Carrefour market, useful to pick up snacks, soda, etc, about 2 blocks north and an ATM machine right across the street. There is a lovely park also across the street to relax and sit outside.
This is rated as a 3 star hotel which is probably accurate. I would rate it average for the some the issues it has, but very good for the great location, excellent free wifi and the very helpful staff. Not a bad stay but there were some bothersome things about this place.
