“Must see in Avignon”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Well worth a visit, although rather spoilt by a large theatre being set up in the main courtyard and some bizarre artwork towards the end of the visit. The views from the top are quite something. You have to expect much climbing of stairs, the old popes must have had plenty of energy!

“Gardens above Palais des Papes”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

The Papal palace is well worth a visit, but to make your visit even more complete, walk to the gardens just beyond the palace - you will have a panoramic view of the area around Avignon, including a great view of the Pont d"Avignon.

“Feed the hungry, clothe the poor - not these guys!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

A visit to the papal palaces will give you a vivid perspective of the accumulated wealth of the RC Church's early senior leaders. Jump from one high-ceilinged room to another and take in the spectacle that surrounded the Church in the 12th and 13th centuries.Splendid manicured property, and arching, jaw-dropping architecture. A must visit if in the area!

“Must be done with Pont Saint Bénézet”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

If you have the time to visit the palace you must do it. The rooms are all splendid. I do not encourage to take the audioguide (2 euros) because all the information is written in a few languages, and the movies are subtitled in french and in english. You can combine this visit with Pont Saint Bénézet and it will be a little cheaper for both attractions. Otherwise get the pass at the tourism office (the pass is free and will give you discounts in numerous attractions).

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

This is in a lovely setting, the view from the top and the gardens are beautiful. Only problem is that there are quite a view steps to get up, no access if you are disabled. It gets very busy but creates a nice buzz within the area.
