We ordered a simple glass of vin chaud. The service was slow and stern. The vin chaud was horrible AND expensive.

This place is located in the main city square, atop the main avenue and across from the Opera House. For this reason, it is often very busy with tourists and visitors, as are the competing places around it. As is sometimes the case, they seem to have stopped worrying about customer care/service a long time ago.

The only redeeming qualities were the quality of the large interior space, decorated in an old-fashioned decadent style that was pleasing and comfortable.

A perfect stop for lunch after visiting the Pope's Palace. We had ideal weather and enjoyed people-watching and nearby carousel. Not the place to eat if you're an American in a hurry, but food was delicious and worth the very pleasant wait. I had salmon and scallops on a skewer. Cooked to perfection.

We were very pleasantly surprised by a good meal and an attentive waiter in this small cafe on one end of Place de l'Horage (see other review of Le Forum, right next door).

This isn't fine dining and you should not expect that, but the meals we had were well prepared and the experience was enjoyable.

Across from Opera House and the double decker Merry Go Round. A nice outdoor seating area. Food was good and service was also.

Our first dinner in Avignon was spent here. The cafe/restaurant is one of a selection of similar establishments in a line on one side of the square.
We chose this one, as the fixed price menu suited us both. It delivered very well. The three courses were tasty and well presented. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. However, it was a very quiet night, so we were't competing for his attention with too many people. Maybe in the height of summer it would be a different story.
Good choice for that night though.
