“Peaceful and Serene Environment”
Reviewed October 5, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

If you want bars, music and nightlife this is not the place for you
Maison du Lac is everything the other 5 star reviews say it is, peaceful, calm, 'cool’.
Peter and Iryna are very welcoming hosts. It's a delight to be somewhere where so much thought has gone into the design of the building and its immediate surroundings. We had a very enjoyable stay for 5 days in September 2016 and will certainly recommend it to others. Having a car is useful as the location is along narrow lanes, although if you are young and fit it would be possible to walk into Avignon’s central old town.

“Perfect stay in a perfect area”
Reviewed October 1, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Stayed for one week in Le Maison du Lac and can only recommend it to everyone. Place is new, clean, beautiful, well equipped, nicely arranged and very quiet. Liked the fish too! It is a 3 minute drive to Avignon, and a perfect place to discover the rest of Provence.
Well done. This is the perfect stay!

“A little piece of relaxation and serenity”
Reviewed September 24, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

After searching for accomodation around Avignon we found these apartments on Booking.com, it was a late booking, relatively speaking, and we were lucky to secure one. After a conversation with the owner, as both of us are allergic to animals, we were able to proceed with the booking and boy was I glad we did - it was the little bit of peace that we were both in need of.
We took the train (Eurostar - in the height of summer go direct to Avignon centre) direct to Avignon TGV and the accomodation isn't too far away. Around 2 miles or so.
When we arrived, Peter was there to meet us and show us around the place, it was just so quiet with the balcony on the edge of the Lake and the serenity of the Koi Carp swimming around.
The open plan lounge and kitchen has been very well designed, I too note there has been comments about IKEA... nothing wrong with that. It has been tastefully chosen and designed and you can see there is a keen eye for detail in how the owner wants the feel of the property to achieve. The bedrooms were comfortable and being north facing, they were cool in the evenings. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a large rain-shower head, so refreshing. Everything was clean, well kept and again, relaxing.
Outside the apartment provided for ample parking should you wish to hire a car - we did not. There is a small play area for children and the pool area was lovely. An 18m length pool which was refreshing for a cool down out of the warm, late September sun. I took advantage of this pool for my triathlon training :) - (keen cyclists - Mont Ventoux is all of 20 ish miles away!!)
The accomodation is close to local ammenities, a bakery about 500m away or a small (yet contained everything you needed) carrefour market around 1km away - I will warn you, it is uphill but did not bother us as we are normally active and don't mind a walk. If you've got a car this market has a car park. Avignon centre-ville is around 2km walk away with a bus service to take you in and back about 400m away. No need to take the car!
Peter, the owner, is lovely and takes great pride in his place - he also wants you to have the best stay in such a lovely region so is always on hand should any assistance, or advice be required. Thank you for all your help!
The apartment gave us a much needed break after a busy year, this showed itself as, although we spent a few days out and about, most evenings we would be found sat on the balcony with a book and a glass of something. The peace, quiet and zen of the place brought so much calm.
C'est parfait :)!!
Merci pour votre hospitalité.

We can only wholeheartedly recommend Maison du Lac. We stayed with our children aged 6 and 9 for 12 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners, Peter and Iryna are a delightful couple who live on the first floor with their 2 young children. They made us very welcome indeed, and are on-hand should there be any difficulties (we had none). As for the accommodation, we loved the modernity, the cleanliness and attention to detail in quality of décor and finishes. The kitchen and shower facilities are first class. The beds are most comfortable, with large soft pillows. The setting, next to the koi carp lake, only enhances the luxury experience to be enjoyed here. Our children simply adored the clean pool, which despite not being heated, was never below 27 Celsius and often over 30 degrees, benefiting from its location, orientation and the fact that Peter is kind enough to cover it every night. We intend to return next year for yet more luxury hospitality!

“Lucked Out”
Reviewed August 27, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We were very fortunate that we could stay here despite last minute booking. The apartment (we had # 1) is very spacious, serene, and very cool (in all senses of the word). Yes, there are some Ikea pieces but they are the right Ikea pieces and add to the overall design. If you are a fan of flowery bedspreads and olive or lavender decorated tiles, this is not the place for you. But in that case you will miss out on the beautiful Japanese-style garden, the pond teeming with koi that keep the mosquitoes away (jar of fish food provided!), the wonderful pool behind the wall that keeps the noise away from the apartments, the washing machine, dishwasher, extremely comfortable beds, and most of all the extremely friendly owners who live on site. Peter and his wife go the extra mile to make your stay very enjoyable. On arrival you will find a complimentary bottle of wine, some butter, jam, a bottle of mineral water. Halfway through our stay we got fresh linen and towels. And Peter did everything to sort out the WIFI when one of us could not log on to the network. Also, Maison du Lac is located very near Avignon and Villeneuve, which are both well worth a visit. Just follow the owner's directions and you'll find the gate to a little piece of paradise in the Provence.

“great concept and garden”

this was our last minute discovery;
we really liked the lake in front of the apartment; the design of it and the garden around the property is very very nice.
We stayed with 3 in the apartment and being able to integrate the terras into the total space through the wide opening windows is an added value.
The service is great and we would recommend this place to friends !
Our only concern is the sustainability of the IKEA interior - well thought of and nice, we might have expected some more creativity/design also on the inside ?

Dear Guest thank you for your comments, I am happy that you enjoyed the general concept of Maison du Lac.
However stating that Maison du Lac has an 'IKEA interior' is inaccurate and might give future clients the idea that I do not have an understanding of design or that I have not made an effort.

I am a designer by trade, some of my design history is described below.

I am a great fan of the Japanese philosophy of 'understated' interior design using natural materials and/or colours to create a harmonious, soft minimalistic style.
I decided to use the Ikea Metod kitchen concept because of the 25 year guarantee on the units and the 5 year guarantee on the AA+ appliances, to me this is VERY SUSTAINABLE. The matt 'dark beige' finish of the kitchen facades suited the colour and texture that I was looking for (note; it is the most expensive of IKEA's finishes)
I chose the black leather ikea sofa because of it elegant classic lines and durability. Many of the drawer systems are from Ikea because the long guarentee and again the simple yet elegant design.
I appreciate that Ikea make good design affordable.

Here is a list of the many NON Ikea items.
The black granite work surface of the kitchen island
The signed limited edition 'Zenscape' wall sculpture, number 4/10 in apartment 4.
The green suede cushions and the fake fur cushions
The Italien marble Saarinen dining table
The 4 Philippe Stark OXO dining chairs,
The 7 lounge mirrors
The coffee table
The 18th century style bathroom mirror and wall light
The chrome towel warmer
The 52m2 of travertine stone flooring
All 5 curtains
The bed frames
The 160 cm head board
The mattresses
The bedroom wall lighting
The 100% cotton sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases.
The 15 high performance led spot lights
4 out of five of the sculptural vases
The metal terrace table
The 3 slate monoliths of the terrace
The Black bamboo
The cloud form box hedging, the Jasmine and the Binion Rose.

I have made special efforts to photograph almost every corner of the Maison du Lac apartments to clearly show the style, the quality and the ambience to avoid any confusion.

I studied design at the London university of Middlesex 'obtaining a first class honours degree in1989. I set up my first London based business 'Peter Wylly lighting' in 1991then my second 'Babylon design ltd' in 1997, I designed and produced original lighting and accessories selling to high end design shops like The Conran Shop, Heals, SCP, Viaduct, Moss, Colette etc, and designed special ranges for Habitiat and the Body Shop. In May 1999 the Telegraph Magazine wrote an article about me titled 'The man who reinvented the lamp shade'.
In 2001 I decided with 2 partners to buy and transform a Provencal 16th century chateau in to a boutique hotel and gastronomic restaurant.
Elle decoration, Living etc, Conde Naste Traveller, The Sunday Times etc. wrote articles about the original design and ambience of the place.
I sold Chateau de Massillan in 2013 and decided to Design and build 'Maison du lac', 5 furnished apartments just 3 mins from the centre of Avignon.
I designed the building to be bioclimatic, very ecologically friendly and especially importantly in my minds eye, beautiful.
