“Get. Away. En Provence.”

My daughter and I were in need of some sunshine, some rest and some friends. We found all three at Le Mas du Petit Grava. The Yellow Bedroom was right out of a Van Gogh painting, and the grounds were a delight to explore. The magnanimous Jim personally escorted us on a walking tour of Arles. We returned to a warm welcome from the endearing borzois, who otherwise were "helping" Ike garden. This place offers what we consider a perfect blend of solitude and companionship. The aesthetics are beyond compare. The breakfast alone would be worth the stay. And stay--you must.

Room Tip: Tell Ike and Jim who you are and how long you plan to stay--they will assign you the best room.

Ike and Jim are the gracious, friendly, knowledgeable hosts of this beautiful 300 year old farmhouse. Their home and property are lovely and I enjoyed walking and taking a lot of photos of the gardens. Their restaurant suggestions and information about nearby sites were perfect. Ike is a wonderful cook and makes the best coffee I've ever had. Breakfast was delicious, table beautifully set with lit candles, colorful fresh linens daily, and beautiful dishes to complement the linens. Ike and Jim joined us for breakfast and I enjoyed our conversations. Jim is an expert on Vincent van Gogh and led us on a tour of van Gogh sites in Arles. The common areas are comfortable and welcoming. A car is a must in Provence. The fellas gave good directions and we had fabulous meals in a different local restaurant every evening. My companions and I felt like we were coming home at the end of the day and that we were saying goodbye to friends at the end of our stay.

Room Tip: There are four beautiful rooms with private baths and I'm sure that you'll be happy with any...

A friend and I spent a week here in late April. Jim and Ike are wonderful hosts, provide lots of entertaining conversation over breakfasts "to die for" or over a glass of wine and give great suggestions re places to visit or dine. We stayed in the Yellow Room which looked out over the beautiful gardens and pool. The room was large, nicely decorated with antique furnishings, clean and very comfortable. The location of the Mas made it ideal for day trips out to various points of interest. Jim and Ike have done a great job of transforming this Provence-style home into a very comfortable B & B - it felt like "coming home" after each of our day trips. Highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Each of the 4 rooms is different so which room to choose very much depends on individual needs. A...

My wife and I spent 6 nights here late-March/early-April, and it was fantastic! There's so much to tell, but I'll attempt to keep it short and sweet.

Ike and Jim are great! Our conversations were fun. They are great local travel consultants. Their restaurant recommendations were perfect. [Forget the guidebooks and take these recommendations.] Flexibility was provided with: booking, payment, arrival, departure, coming & going, mail, parking, etc. Ike provided great driving directions, also. Customer service, at it's best, is provided by Jim and Ike!

The house is spectacular! It's the type of place that I would love to retire to. It's big, but very cozy and warm on the inside. The gardens are really nice. Our rooms was big and beautiful with everything we could have asked for. The bathroom was also big and beautiful and with everything we could have asked for. Their Wi-Fi works very well. The spiral staircase is a little tricky with large luggage, but it is easily manageable. Soothing music is always played in the common rooms. This would be a great house to bring a large family or a few couples worth of friends, for the accomodations could easily handle it and still provide quiet comfort.

The breakfasts are yummy yummy yummy! And you will have plenty to eat! Over our 6 breakfasts Ike made: pancakes, waffles, a fritatta, breads, jams, bacon, oatmeal, great coffee, and more (and more and more and more).

If the Rhone Valley or Provence is your plan, you should definitely consider Petit Grava, just outside of Arles, as your base. We did, and we visited the hill towns to the east and Gigondas & Chat. de Pape to the northwest......and everything in between.

Read the other reviews for this property and believe all the positive comments! They are true!

Thanks Jim and Ike for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back and visit again. All the best!

Eric & Barbara

I really enjoyed staying here rather than at a regular hotel. Ike was very warm and kind and made great breakfasts! My husband and I stayed in one of the two upstairs rooms. The bathroom was quite big, and the bedroom itself was a nice size and was clean and comfortable. One of the nights, it was very windy out, which caused the windows to rattle quite loudly and woke me up alhtough this didn't bother us much. Due it it being chilly out, we were unable to use the pool area which looked really peaceful and pretty. Would not hesitate to stay here again, really wonderful experience!

Spent 6 nights at the Mas du Petit Grava in April and really enjoyed getting to know Ike and Jim. We really felt like we were staying with old friends. Ike made wonderful breakfasts every morning, and we enjoyed getting to know our fellow visitors. Ike and Jim gave us great advice on what to see, the best routes to take, and where to eat. They know the area very well and are both very interesting to talk to. The yellow room provided plenty of space and a large bathroom. The Mas is well situated, and we found plenty of sights to see within an hour's drive. Highly recommended!

Never having stayed in an old farm house, Mas, we were not quite sure what to expect as we searched for the Mas du Petite Grava. It is a lovingly restored old farm house in the middle of the countryside but only a 15 minute drive to Arles
What makes this place special are Ike and Jim. Jim welcomed us with a history of the place. He went out of his way to make Van Gogh come to life as well as the times of the Romans. Ike runs the place and keeps everything looking good. They have 4 perfectly behaved dogs who never barked and made us feel at home.
The farmhouse breakfast and Ike's fabulous coffee are not to be missed. There is an on site orchard from which Ike makes the jam. The grounds are beautiful. The personal touch - making dinner recommendations, loaning us an umbrella, calling ahead for the next reservation - all were above and beyond what these well-traveled city dwellers could have imagined. This was an unexpected highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: There are only 4 guest rooms - ours was the orange room and had a nice view of the courtyard and cou...
