We were here in mid-September for 3 nights; Ike was our host as Jim was out of the country. Ike was both congenial and helpful, and provided excellent breakfasts. However, note that the facility, in an older building twenty minutes from the city of Arles, needs some upkeep and updating. Sleeping rooms are all up small winding staircases; they are spacious but the furnishings show wear and tear. Our mattress was old and tired, and our bathroom had a tub with a hand-held shower but no enclosure. However, there is much charm here, in a peaceful environment away from the noise of Arles, and Ike works hard to assist his guests. Our stay was pleasant.

Because if it did, this place would deserve every one of them. Charming, delicious, comfortable, interesting, a MUST stay if you are anywhere in the area. And, if you're not near here I recommend that you make a plan to do so. A delightful part of our trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in the blue room which has a wonderful view of the swimming pool.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in August and really enjoyed ourselves. The hosts...and their dogs...are lovely and the breakfast was wonderful. We loved the fresh fruit picked from the trees in the yard, and the homemade muffins, etc. prepared fresh daily by Ike. Jim and Ike are familiar with the area and offered us good advice for day trips and the like. We felt very welcome and comfortable at Mas Du Petit Grava.

Very hard to add anything to the previous reviews. Went there based on reviews here and was not disappointed. Room was very nicely appointed, the ambience in the Mas is great and my kids loved the pool. Breakfast was a selection of fresh fruit, pastries, bread, yogurt and a freshly cooked item (pancakes, muffins, etc). A couple of evenings we spent relaxing at the Mas, eating cheese, ham and break with some local wine, and chatting with Ike and Jim, who are excellent hosts

It's a measure of the excellence of this unique B&B that I still feel compelled to write this review, despite the fact that we visited Mas du Petit Grava two years ago! Talk about procrastination! My apologies to the proprietors, Ike and James! We'll never forget your expansive hospitality. A "mas" is a Provencale farmhouse, and this site is characteristic: a low, long, two-story stone building, ancient but sound. Rooms are large, airy, warm, and hung with beautiful Van Gogh prints. In fact, Van Gogh is a theme here, since the Mas is hard by Arles, where Vincent painted most of his best-known works and where James conducts a thorough and frankly opinionated personally guided tour. Breakfasts at the Mas were, in a word, superb. All the guests convened around a long table under the trees and feasted on Ike's homemade pastries, dense coffee, various juices, and lively conversation. All this and a huge pool where we could cool off at the end of one of those superheated southern French summer days. We were also grateful for James' restaurant recommendations. One eatery in Fontevielle (I can't remember the name!) served us the single finest meal I have ever had in my life. My friend, if you are travelling in Provence, do yourself the singular favor of staying at Mas du Petit Gravas!

Having read all the reviews we were unfortunately quite disappointed with Mas Du Petit Grava. It is situated on the edge of charmless town which provides limited options for dining. The house is dark and stuffy and the rooms were basic but adequate. It feels like perhaps the owners need to do a bit of spring cleaning to freshen it up a bit. The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts absolutely charming but unfortunately for us this was not our provencal dream.

It is difficult to imagine any spot more perfect than Mas du Petit Grava for one to experience the "true" Provence. It is like a Van Gogh painting brought to life, yet with every modern convenience. From the homemade breakfasts to the extensive library to the personalized recommendations on sites and local cuisine, the Mas caters to any and every need. The other reviews offer fine details of the home, grounds and hosts - Jim and Ike, who are simultaneously charming, cultured and down-to-earth. Suffice it to say, you'd be a fool to pass up the opportunity to stay here. We may never leave...!
