Best Western Hotel Atrium
Ranked #18 of 56 Hotels in Arles
Reviewed May 11, 2014

We pulled into Arles late on a Saturday afternoon after rejecting our booked (and higher rated) accommodations somewhat distant from town. We were tired, the hotel was fairly centrally located, and off street parking was available, so decided to chance it notwithstanding the last reviews. Our room was clean, the staff were courteous and accommodating, everything functioned as expected, the WiFi signal was strong and stable, and garage, though small, readily accommodated our new Peugeot 808 wagon (spaces were no smaller than that of my US$400 per month garage space back home).

Bottom line - this is a US chain hotel, not the Crillon. Things may have differed in the past, but they seem ok now. No traces of fleas or other insects at this point in time.

I would avoid this hotel if possible... Not Clean, needs updates.. at best its a 1/2 star.. Nothing has been easy or even pleasing.. Bad vibe. Bad Parking.. I could barely fit into the spots with a small car..It Would be alright if you have an austin mini. The wireless is a nightmare. The door does not close right. The TV remote did not work. What is up ???? I can hear everything thru the walls to the next room.
I am leaving asap and heading to Aix en Provence to get away from this nightmare...

Cher client,
Cordialement.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. The rooms, carpeting were filthy and infested with fleas crawling across vanity, bureaus, night stands. Visitors were bit and managements' reaction was dismissive, arrogant. It accepts pets so beware!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your return. However could you please inform us about your complete stay details.
We are really surprised about your comments, and if you really have this problem in one of our room, which is really surprising, don't hesitate to inform us directly at the reception during your stay and not after after your stay on Trip Advisor. It could be difficult for us to help you in this last case.
All our rooms are checked daily and from your departure we don't see or suspect any "insectes" in one of our rooms, so please contact us urgently with all your stay details if this comment well concerned our property.
Looking forward to hearing from you very soon.
Best regards

Shortly before our trip took place, we learned that our first choice hotel, the Jules Cesar, was under renovations. However, we reluctantly went along with the change to the B.W. Atrium in Arles even though we were assured that this was a comparable hotel. Upon arriving at the B.W. we were concerned that things were rapidly going downhill, as this was not a 3 star property by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately, on the first evening stay I was bitten by fleas in the room. Another person in our tour group had fleas visible in the bathroom. When we went to complain we were told that the fleas would not bother us, that they would treat the room with chemicals, and the hotel was full so no room change. I found this particular staff person (mgr) to be rude, not only to us but to our tour director who spoke fluent French. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! The only positive thing to mention was that the location was convenient.

Wasn't our choice to stay here as the Jules Cesar which was nearby was closed for renovations.
Lugging suitcases up stairs into the lobby was not good for elderly people. The rooms were small (ever been on an inside cabin aboard ship? - get the picture?) Only if you're in a pinch and need a place to sleep!

I am writing this review for the United States market. This is not a 3 star property but a 2. I wasn't expecting anything great but thought it was only for one night. When you arrive at the front door you have to drag your luggage up a flight of stairs and no staff to assist. The front desk agent must have been new because she did not seem to much about anything. The lobby is pleasant but it is downhill from there. The carpet needs to be replaced in the hallways and there should be at least one other person on duty. My telephone did not work nor the tv and the front desk agent said she did know how to resolve either problems. She also indicated there is no maintenance worker on duty on Saturday. She said her replacement would be in at 11:00 P.M. and knows how to get the tv working. She wrote my room number down and said he would contact me. It is now 1:00 a.m. and if I want to speak with him I have to put on clothes and go down to the lobby because I have no telephone. The hotel is clean even though the rooms are small but this property has no clue about good service.

Room Tip: Make sure the phone and tv are working before settling in.

This hotel had nothing special to offer. No in-room safe, very mediocre amenities, absolutely NO drawers or shelves to put things on. You basically have to live out of a suitcase. Some people had bathrooms with tubs; others very small bathrooms with a small square shower stall. The included breakfast was less than ordinary. Other than being in a good walkable location to the rest of Arles, I can't recommend the hotel. We were supposed to stay at the Jules Cesar next door, but it closed for remodeling with no notice. This simply is not a 4 star hotel. It is 3 stars at best. I do have to say that the staff was very friendly and the wine prices were good for a hotel.

Room Tip: Look before you leap. The rooms are not equal.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking time to inform us about your stay in our property on Trip Advisor.
First of all, I have to inform you that we are a 3 stars hotel and not a four stars hotel like the Jules Cesar and we wera pleased to welcome your group.
About the bathrooms, we only have two rooms with showers on our 90 rooms.
I am pleased to read your satisfaction about our services and our location.
Sincerely
