Traveling around the south of France we discovered Arles late on our trip. Researching hotels there online we came across a great late deal on this place. The hotel is elegant, mysterious and has the extra factor of an underground roman ruin as seen through the 'glass floor' of the bar area!!
Brilliant..... The location could not better and the hotel is an absolute gem. We're looking forward to a return visit, especially to fully discover the huge sunday market.

Myself and a group of friends stayed at the d'Arlatan for seven nights, using Arles as a convenient departure point for touring various locations in Provence. The hotel exudes old world charm, especially the public rooms. The hotel is located within a few minutes of Place du Forum and had spacious, clean rooms; ours had a balcony overlooking the pool. The included breakfast was excellent, as were the staff and overall service. We had the unfortunate incident that two of our party had to return home on our sixth night due to a medical emergency. They were not charged for the final seventh night's stay, despite the abrupt cancellation, and were not charged for several overseas phone calls relating to the medical emergency. A hotel with a heart! I highly recommend this hotel for any traveler seeking atmosphere, comfort and hospitality.

This hotel is in the heart of Arles and is full of character and old world charm. It has several quiet areas both inside and outside where it is possible to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The pool was great after a long day exploring the city centre. We were unable to connect to the internet but we are not sure whether it was a problem with our settings.

Room Tip: I would recommend using the hotel's garage although the streets are narrow on the way to the hot...

This is a hotel full of character, definitely not a boutique hotel.
We had a room overlooking the beautiful courtyard which contained a small pool and was sheltered from the Mistral wind.Eating breakfast there was very pleasant. Talking of which, there was sufficient variety of choice to surely satisfy even the most fastidious of guests.
The room was spacious, clean, with very comfortable beds and non-carpeted, so hygenic too with efficient aircon.
One appears to go into a cupboard to enter the bathroom! Rather strange, but you soon get used to it.Hairdryer is not supplied in the room, but is available from reception on request.
The only minor gripe is the ancient television set, but that is really "picky".
The hotel is close to a very wide choice of cafes and restaurants
The hotel staff are helpful and the bar is well stocked. It is a strange feeling to enjoy a drink looking down 30 feet through toughened glass to the Roman remains underneath the more modern building.

My travelling companion and I spent two nights at the Hotel d'Arlatlan in June 2013. We chose the hotel based on positive reviews on TripAdvisor and were very pleased with all aspects of our stay and agree with the positive comments made by other reviewers. Our room (#15) was very pleasant - modest in size (but adequate), had two single beds and overlooked the courtyard below. Good wireless Internet access in the large sitting room on the main floor - didn't access the Internet in the room as it appeared to require a physical connection to the phone outlet.

Arles is a great town to explore on foot. The Saturday market is certainly worth a visit. A small wine store is just around the corner of the hotel. As in other French towns, the restaurants on the nearby square are fine for having a drink and people watching but the better food is found on the neighbouring side streets.

Stayed here for 8 days in April and experienced the most beautiful spring. Flowers in the courtyard and vines (wisteria) all came out that week. Pool was too cool to swim in but was lovely to sit beside at the end of the day of sightseeing. Three turtles in the fountain in the courtyard were fun to check out every day. Hotel is right in the middle of Arles, close to the Rhone river for walking the old stone wall. Walking distance to any sites in Arles and the train and bus stations which was great because we used this as a base for seeing all of the surrounding towns and sites. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room, in the older section, looked out over rooftops to the Rhone river and the view was spectacular. Bed and pillows comfortable. Bathroom had a bathtub with hand-held shower nozzle instead of a shower but it was ok. No hair dryer and complimentary bath and hair gel combined (no conditioner, so take some). Breakfast was good, lots to eat, but the coffee was terrible and lukewarm. We were given one free breakfast because we stayed 8 days which was nice. Great restaurants around the corner on Rue du Dr. Fanton (reviewed by Rick Steves) and much better than the ones at Place du Forum although lots more people-watching to be done there. WIFI did not work in our room so went downstairs to the lovely living room or outside in the courtyard. Discovered the local use of shutters to keep out the midday heat which was really welcomed by us (21-23 degrees and sunny was a real treat coming from a cold April in Canada and a cold week in Paris just before) Definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Arlatan for one night in October 2012. Nice, old and charming building. Spacious room. Central location. First I thought, that the room is without bathroom - but then I mentioned, that the door to it is like a cubicle door. Free WIFI worked well.
