“Tired, dated and in urgent need of updating”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

Set away from the town centre and adjacent to a very rundown housing estate this very tired hotel is looking its age. Used a lot by coach parties, partly because of the large free car park. Booking on the day was a mistake because at 140 euro excluding breakfast it is a ripoff. The rooms are in poor condition; heavily faded and stained carpets.
Bed clean and comfortable.
Large swimming pool much appreciated after very hot day on the Carmargue. No vegetarian options in the restaurant as is common in France.
Noisy from 7am as coach parties leave for the day.
Common parts of hotel in need of maintenance and decorating - at the prices charged they can afford it.

We got lost trying to find the hotel. We somehow thought it was in a commercial center, but wasn’t -- it was right near the Musee Departemental Arles Antique which, by the way, was very worthwhile. Our room had a city view and was on the cool side of the building, but overlooked a strange area that looked like a government housing project. There was a sign outside the hotel, which was a combo Mercure/Ibis, about not leaving anything of value in your car, so we complied.

It was a perfectly okay room and the hotel was well maintained.

Have been staying here in the beginning of July. 3* and no glasses in the room? Come on!! Only paper ones for drinking and plastic ones for your bath stuff!
Cleaning staff doesn't respect your privacy at all. How is it possible to enter the room where the sign "Do not disturb" is hanging? One of them knocked and entered right away, I was in bathroom so I didn't have enough time even to get out. The second one just opened the door without any knocking, the third one did the same. And no excuses, how "nice". Nobody talks ANY English. At least 3-5 words!
A real disappointment. Would never advise anybody this hotel.

Room Tip: Be sure you are not gonna live beside the cleaning staff rooms!

I've been in this hotel for 3 nights in the first week of July and had terrible experience.
Staff doesn't respect any notes on the door! What is the point of putting "do not disturb on the door" if they knock and even open the door with their keys while I'm getting out of the bathroom wrapped in the towel! That's outrageous! And it happend not once!
Wi-fi connection is very poor, staff (including Manager) speaks very bad English.
I've been staying in the room #410 which located close to the place there staff keeps their cleaning stuff and it was noisy all the time.

Room Tip: stay away from this hotel

Stayed at this hotel for one night in May on a business trip. Location is not really within walking distance of Arles sights but was ok for business trip. Hotel is quite outdated but it was clean and service was good. Surrounding area is not that great; safe but not much to look at. I would recommend for a no frills stop for one night but surprised that Mercure has not updated it.

I had a lot of Accor points to spend so we ended up in this Mercure. It is a bit beige but we found it clean and pleasant throughout, with attentive staff and nice but expensive bar. The walk into Arles was ok although surrounded by busy roads. The museum just next to the hotel is worth a visit, even if its just to get the regular free bus into town. The breakfast was great, particularly the one delivered to our room. Lots of organic fruit, coffee and bread so all numm numm. It was included in our room rate or it may be a little expensive. The pool was lovely although they needed a bit of cover from the sun in places. Our only issue were the groups of men from nearby housing who were clearly using the hotel as a base, there needed to be a bit more visible security about

Room Tip: A wee bit of a walk into the lovely town of Arles but a pleasant place to stay even so. Use the free...

we assumed because this is an Accor chain that it would be nice. Not so. Old, worn, weary. Nasty carpet, threadbare small towels, etc. Looks like last update was in 1972. THere must be better in Arles.
Plus, who in the world would pay 13E for breakfast if the rooms are as described.
