“Impressive facade!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

We discovered Eglise St-Trophime on an evening stroll through the old part of Arles. Although we were not able to enter the church because of the late hour, we were very impressed with the exterior. The delicately carved and detailed stonework and massive wooden doors overlaid with ornamental ironwork was beautiful to behold. It made us even more curious to see inside! A "must see" when in oldtown Arles!

“Beautiful church in square in Arles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

This is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Provence. There are huge arches, tapestries and statues and it's very old. Worth a stop when in Arles. Also a neat Egyptian obelisk with a fountain right outside the church.

“One to see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

After touring for a while, there are just so many churches you can or want to visit....except for cathedrals, they start to look alike. Not so here. The entrance and exterior of Eglise Ste. Trophime are worth a visit even if you do not go inside. It is a storybook. But go inside, sidestepping the beggarwoman on the steps - it is very dark and not worthwhile taking pictures unless you have a very good camera. In retrospect, the most outstanding feature is the relic chapel; whether or not you believe the provenance of the relics, it will cause you to pause and look at the entire collection behind a secure grillwork.

“Fascinating - both inside and out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

The outside of Church Of Saint-Trophime is an experience of its own. The beautiful doorway is covered in stunning sculpture. The interior is worth visiting for look, especially to see its incredible collection of relics. This church has a lot of relics. Like really, a lot of relics. It also has a display of clerical robes, although it was pretty dark inside, so it was hard to truly appreciate them.

“Romanesque beauty”

Dating from 11th and 12th centuries, located on the bustling Place de la Republique. Duck in here for a quiet moment to admire the ancient artworks.
