Just go there. Great to see how the town was in the past with some great artefacts. Jusy across the road from the Ibis Budget and Styles hotels.

It's one of the best museums of its kind combining well documented archeology with beautiful art from the antiquity. Good parking, modern facilities.

After a lot of reading, previous trips to Roman sites in Italy, and having just visited the Roman sites in Nimes, Orange, and Arles, we thought we had seen everything worth seeing. But we were delighted with this museum. This museum with lots of artifacts, well laid out, had us fascinated for a few hours until our feet got tired.

We were a bit tired when we arrived at the Musee Departemental Arles Antique but excited to see the museum after having read about it. Wow - this is an exceptional museum of Roman artifacts and our two hours at the museum went quickly. As others have noted, the longboat found in the mud of the Rhone River was fascinating and impressive. My husband is a long-time student of ancient Rome and was thrilled. Our visit here was a highlight of our visit to Provence to explore Roman Provence. Very highly recommended.

This is a great museum and don't be put off by the concrete modern exterior, the interior is full of impressive Roman exhibits, the most impressive of which is a full side Roman river Barge recovered from the nearby river. There area also mosaics and some sarcophagi. We popped in as it was included in our tourist ticket for the town, but for me turned out to be one of the highlights
