Description: La Chassagnette is a gourmet restaurant at 12 minutes away from Arles, at the very heart of the Camargue Regional Nature Park. With 1 Michelin star and 3 Gault & Millau toques, la Chassagnette invites you into a magical place that combines natural charm with contemporary design. This former farmhouse is a tribute to nature and art of cooking. The Chef, Armand Arnal, has the title of Maitre Restaurateur and draws its inspiration from that unique environment. The 2-hectare organic vegetable garden provides a colourful and fragrant setting to walk around and discover the produce that you will later find glorified on your plate.

“Unique location and great organic food!”
Reviewed June 4, 2011

We had heard many rumors about this organic restaurant in the heart of the Camargue so we decided to stop here.
Already when entering the parking you notice the huge garden all around the building which is used for cultivating most the needed herbs and vegetables as this restaurant is mostly known for its vegetable cuisine. The welcoming was very hearty and we were guided to our table. We were seated with another family at one of the long tables which created a very enjoyable familiar atmosphere. The room itself is nicely decorated with beautiful flowers, decorative elements in the Camargue style.
We ordered the menu according to the proposition of the chef which consisted out of 5 different dishes. The served bread was very good, the olive oil and “fleur de sel” on the table and the variety of bio wines was also adequate. The staff was very friendly and attentive. For each dish you are served several plates and bowls with side salads, side vegetables and sauces or fumés. The quality of the food itself and the components was very good, the combination with Asian flavors and spices was new, very tastefully and delicious. The combination of different vegetables with their different structures and tastes was an experience also the use of regional products. As main-dish we had mulet (a regional fish) in the salt-crust.

Unfortunately the fish was a bit over the point of perfection but nevertheless together with the olive oil and the salad a remarkable dish.

As an idea for the management I would animate to think of creating a kind of uniform for the staff as from my point of view this is obligatory for a restaurant of this class and price category.

As water we were served the on ”placed sparkled version” which, from my point of view when ordering mineral water is not correct as it is only water from the tap but for the same price as bottled mineral water.

“A superb experience --- twice”
Reviewed December 14, 2009

My first visit in the spring of 2008 was for lunch, and it was superb in every way. Then in the summer of 2009 I had the chance to go there for dinner.... which was divine. The cooking is marvelous, the welcome full of warmth, the service excellent and not at all pretentious. This is now my favorite restaurant in the south of France, where there are many wonderful restaurants.

“Food is good. Prices are too high”
Reviewed October 24, 2009

We went on October 9, 2009, This place is very out of the way but we went because a local woman recommended it, Fodor's lists it, and the Tripadvisor forum has positive comments. Seems that there is a "buzz about the place" It was good food and service but the prices were way high. $48 for the choice of entre $30 for the choice of appetizer and $21 for the choice of dessert. When you are in Arles try La Paillotte and La Queule De Loup which have just as good food at a much more reasonable price and they are in town.
