Small and charming family hotel in the old house in the centre of Apt. Owned by affable family pair doing all to you feel like in home. Not big but comfortable rooms with tiny balcony, good breakfast.

Hotel is bike-friendly, owner (really strong man :) ) even lifted all our bicycles for us to the first floor. Highly recommended!

During our travels, we often do not book in advance, but play it by ear. This time, we were tired and decided to land in Apt. We drove to the centre of town and found this sweet, little hotel, tucked away in a corner. It also hosts a decent restaurant downstairs. We got the family room with a double bed and a bunk bed. Sleeping under sturdy wooden beams of an old, French building was special. The room is simple but good. The breakfast was excellent. The owner took great care of us by helping us carry our heavy suitcases up and down the stairs, and giving me extra oranges for breakfast (I had caught the Mistral in me). The only minus: the room would benefit from some airing. But a minor flaw on an overall positive experience.

We booked this hotel in Apt last minute, whilst on a road trip around France.

Our room was very good value. The hotel is small and very sweet. The rooms are quite basic but comfortable. We liked that our room backed onto a patio so we could sit outside.

The owners were extremely friendly and hospitable, we enjoyed our breakfast of only 5euros in the morning.

So a great place to stay if you are on a budget.

Sweet, simple little hotel in the centre of Apt run by a charming young couple for whom nothing is too much trouble despite the hard work and clearly long hours they put in to running the hotel and the pizzeria below.
Nothing seems to much trouble for them, be it lugging our very heavy cases up the narrow stairs (nb: there is no lift), storing a stash of cheese in the fridge overnight or making us tea last thing at night after a heavy meal out.
The rooms may not be the fanciest of designs, but they are clean and fresh, there are plenty of towels and a fan provided in the summer heat. The breakfast room is very nice with a standard French breakfast - plenty of jams, nice fresh baguette - as good as what you'll get in any local cafe and at a very good price.
But most of all, we cannot praise the owners enough for their amazing welcome and can't wait to see how they continue to improve the place!

This is a great base for exploring the Luberon region of Provence with its picturesque hillside villages, walking and cycling trails and local markets. Apt is a small busy market town only an hour by bus from Avignon (2 euros). The saturday morning market is rated as one of the best in Provence. The wonderful villages of Roussillion, Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Oppede and Saignon are all close by, either by bus, bike or rental car.
Le Palais is a pretty little hotel and restaurant in the centre of the old town. William and Armandine, a young couple, have recently taken it over. They were very charming and friendly, with good english. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was quite spacious with a lttle balcony overlooking the square. The bathroom was adequate, the beds comfortable and the linen, towels etc clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room overlooking the square.

Hotel Le Palais was our second stop on our cycling tour of Provence. We arrived in the evening after a long ride from Aix-en-Provence on our tandem. Jean-Claude, the proprietor, was waiting for us and greeted us warmly. He also allowed us to to store our tandem in the first floor storage unit, so we didn't have to haul our Bob trailer up the three flights of stairs to our room.

The hotel is a typical medieval building that has been renovated throughout the years. While the decor isn't straight out of Elle Decor, for 54 Euros/night it would be absurd to expect so. The beds were comfortable. The location is outstanding, within 3 minutes of the Cathédrale Sainte-Anne d'Apt and the Calavon River.

We highly recommend the Hotel le Palais!
