What a delightful surprise. While they do not have an English menu, the chef and waitress did speak English and helped us order the most delicious Tartines (French styled pizza). Highly recommended while in aix-en-Provence.

This was a great find. The food is all very fresh and so much better than the usual tourist fare. We will return for dinner.

This was quite a find. Really good food and a generous host. When we asked about some of the menu we were given samples. The staff were all very friendly. The tartines we had were exceptionally good. We will come again.

This new restaurant specializes in open-face sandwiches, soups and homemade desserts. The luncheon menu at 15 euros is an excellent value, the service is friendly and efficient. All of the food is fresh and prepared on site. The special Poilane bread is hearty and serves as a good base for the sandwich platters. When we visited, the soup included in the luncheon menu was a fresh and flavorful gaspacho, the owner's private recipe including fresh mint. I don't drink wine at lunch, but the restaurant offers a selection of reasonably priced French wines by the glass or carafe. As I prefer salads rather than sandwiches in general, the highlight of the meal for me was the desserts. I had a hard time choosing between baba au rhum and strawberry tiramisu. As it was hot, I went with the tiramisu, which had plenty of fresh strawberries and was an intersesting variant on the classic version. A fine espresso went down well with it. Decor is clean and modern and there is a good choice of seating inside and on both a streetside and rooftop terrace.

Having a chat with the young and outgoing owner of this new venue in Aix en Provence, we understood that he gets directly from Paris the bread he uses to prepare daily his tasty open faced sandwiches (“tartines” in french). We therefore discovered that Paris does bake the best bread in France and that you can reasonably fill your stomach eating exclusively sandwiches (and a desert!, quite shocking as I am more a meat type of person). Special mention to the rose wine served chilled by the glass.
