“Relaxing and Beautiful Stop”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

This was our first stop on a 2 week trip to Provence and Burgundy in late October 2013. We spent 3 nights at Le Mas d"Entremont. We had a superior double room and found it spacious, private, and situated in a beautiful garden-like setting. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet at night which we like. We ate at the hotel restaurant our first night and it was delicious with a great local rose wine. The staff were all helpful with tips on Aix and the area. We would stay again for certain.

This hotel was good; the rooms were large — and the bed was the largest we've ever slept in. The breakfasts were good, too (especially the home-made jams) though a bit pricey for what you got. We ate dinner twice and they were both extremely tasty and not over-priced at all.

But there are some problems. First there was a problem finding the place because the address that appears on the reservation slip is incorrect. If you're using Google Maps or Waze, enter the name of the hotel and NOT the address given. We ended up in the central square of old Aix twice, which was an embarrassment, to day the least — because GPSs take you to the "center" of the place when they can't identify an address you've given! — when you enter . We did eventually get to the place, though.

Then there was the issue of disabled-friendly. My wife has a problem walking and uses a stick or rollator (depending on how she is feeling on the day). Our room involved a walk around the main building of the hotel so we drove the car to and from. Even when we parked the car at the nearest point to our room, there was a 50-60 metre walk — but although there was a light outside the door it only came on when you got to about 2m of the entrance, so you had to negotiate the rest across grass, paving stones and steps. Fortunately, it wasn't raining and the iPhone provides a wonderful torch/flashlight!

There is free wi-fi — when it works—most of the time we were out of range.

All in all, comfortable and clean but overpriced for what you get!

My wife and I recently spent the weekend at Le Mas d'Entremont which which we selected from a web search and various reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel is set in lovely grounds with the gardens and pool shielded from the (quite) busy road into Aix by the main building of the hotel itself. Rooms are spacious and well furnished although our bathroom was a little dated. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room heating control was a bit tricky to master so do ask for instructions should you believe you will be needing some warmth.

The hotel restaurant was quiet at the time of our visit but the food is very good and in the summer with a lovely terrace and garden it would be most delightful.

Aix itself is well worth a visit. We found parking our hire car at the hotel and getting a taxi into the town preferable (about Euro 10 each way). You could walk but it would take a while and it is uphill coming back. Don't miss Aix's market which is the best we have been to in all of France.

Finally, the staff were excellent and most helpful.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights whilst my husband was competing in the Aix, Iron Man competition, this gorgeous hotel served as an excellent retreat for us whilst still being within approx 5 mins drive into the centre of town. We had a garden room which was of a great size, very clean and had a lovely sun trapped private terrace. The swimming pool was lovely, a little bit cold but great for a fresh morning swim. One recommendation is to take anti mosquito spray if you are wanting to sit out in the garden, despite it being a cool September afternoon I was bitten to shreds!

We stayed here over our honeymoon and very much enjoyed it. The rooms are obviously a bit older (though the bathrooms are modern) but that's the idea with this property. It's just out of the city centre but we actually liked it - a quiet property and frankly certain parts of the city centre seemed a bit too noisy.

You definitely need a car but if you have one, it's very convenient - less than 10 minutes out of town. Parking is also free. Without a car it's a bit of a dealbreaker as probably a bit too inconvenient to travel back and forth into town.

Unfortunately we did not get to try the restaurant.

We'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes older properties that have a nice charm with friendly service and a decent sized room. There is also a small pool and some nice trails to walk on the property.

We stayed here 5nights at the beginning of our trip. We stayed in a junior suite which was large, with huge sitting room. The bathroom was modern and up to date with great robes and towels. The restaurant is fantastic and we took 3 dinners here. The set up is also lovely, large pool which although not heated as most French pools are not was great for swimming. Here was one area that needs looking into. There are chaises but no one takes the time to put the covers out. They are all thrown in a closet near the pool and left to the guests to find. Also,we did have a terrible problem with the Internet . The staff was very pleasant. Just not sure if it warrants a return.
