The wife and I had just arrived in Aix, and were walking to our accommodation. It was just after the normal déjeuner hour, and when it started to rain, we ducked into this fantastic place for a late lunch (with our luggage and everything in tow). What a treat! The waiter was a great guy, and made us feel very welcome. He recommended two plates from the chalkboard out front, and offered to pair a reasonably priced wine for our meal. Of course we took his suggestion, and was so pleased with the meal/wine that we phoned a friend we were supposed to meet and told them to meet us at Vintrépide. She joined us and we murdered a second bottle of wine and had coffee with the chef. Great experience, and will decidedly be on our list for our next visit to Aix-en-Provence.

Completely overrated. We went there for a dinner since the restaurant is very well rated in trip advisor. Amuse bouche was embarrassing - tomato "gazpacho" was a tomato juice worse than what you would get on a flight. Dishes were with no herbs or special condiments inside. The waiter has announced that the ingredients are "market fresh". Well.... knowing the market of Aix very well brought us to wonder in which market the chef was shopping. Pitty...

Came here with my boyfriend on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Everything was delicious and wonderful from start to finish. The waiter was welcoming and very attentive, never making us feel rushed, explained everything on the chalkboard menu he brought to the table. He has also trained as a sommelier and made great wine recommendations. Every dish that was brought out was incredible, from the fleurs de courgette as an entree to the descontructed lemon tart at the end. Every ingredient is purchased fresh daily from the market and the menu changes regularly (every 10 days) to keep things seasonal and interesting.
If you are looking for the outdoor patio dining experience in Aix, this isn't for you. If you are looking for authentic, amazing food and great service in a relaxed, yet upscale environment, at reasonable prices (entrees were around 9-11 euro, plats 18-22, and desserts 9), then I would strongly recommend Vintrepide.

Recommended by our hotel, we loved this restaurant so much we went back the next night. Everything we ate was delicious and beautifully presented. Although the menu is limited (4 appetizers, 4 main dishes, 4 desserts) over the two nights my friend and I ate there, we tried three of the main courses and each was excellent. The host (owner?) is friendly and speaks English very well. This is fine French cooking at its best, but still reasonably priced. The decor is simple, but maybe that is how they can keep their prices within reason.

We have been to Aix en Provence on 5 previous occasions and always had trouble finding good food. We went to Vintrepide last evening and the food was excellent and also the service. For entree we had the foie gras and mushrooms plus stuffed zucchini flowers plus pork and veal as the main meal - the taste for all the dishes were amazing. Desserts looked great but we had no room for them sadly. Would certainly eat here again.
