This hotel is by the highway and convenient only if you are driving. The bathroom is dirty, especially the disgusting shower curtain and the thin towels provided were odd-smelling. The room is big by French standard and luckily, the aircon is powerful even for the hot summer nights.

Just stopped for one night during our trip, The hotel is by the highway, very convenient. The swimming pool was open and nice, they had a nice playground for kids by the restaurant. The menu for kids in the restaurant was simply perfect for them, although for the adults the timing was not right (my husband ate the starter before I got my plate, then his main course was coming after everybody had finished).
The room was small for a big bed and two little ones, not comfortable. One is expecting to have 4 towels when booking a room for 4 people, but of course there are no 4 towels.

Room Tip: You can reserve the table at the restaurant before hand, in our case we chose the closest table to t...

We stayed in Aix for a few days. The Hotel is cheerful and clean. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms were exactly as expected i.e moderate size, and basic. We used the restaurant a couple of times. Again a variety of basic dishes available. The pool is small, but again, better that no pool at all. One really needs a car staying there as it is 30 minutes walk to the centre. We eventually sussed out the buses and it was only 8 minutes walk. The town of Aix is well worth a visit. Biggest drawback was the exorbitant taxi price from the TGV station.

This hotel is pretty basic so if its just for a quick stopover off the motorway it would be fine. However we had 3 nights and found the bed uncomfortable, the bathroom very small and the toilet floor reeked of urine! We also found a dirty sock from a previous occupant beside the sofa.
While it is not far from the town, we had to pay for parking every time we went there as parking is a premium. I would recommend staying in town if you are a tourist and want to walk around the town. It might cost a bit more but I think it would be worth it. Also if you don't have a car, it would be a bit of a walk into the centre.
Having said that, we ate at the restaurant for one dinner and one breakfast and found the food quite good and service also good. Good value for money.

If your only need is a room by a highway near Aix, by all means stay here. If, however, you want 3 things you signed up for, think again.

1. Pool
Yes, there is a lovely pool which looks just as nice as in the picture. It's not open between the months of September and May. It's there. It's very nice. But your children can't play in it.

2. Playground
Rarely in life does one rocking horse constitute a playground.

3. Superior room
Think of this like ordering the deluxe burger at a well known fast food chain. It's just more horse meat. So it is that a superior room is the exact same size as any other room. Just with more beds. We spent 3 days walking sideways around our room.

On complaining, it turns out that the receptionist won't allow you to speak to the manager. Accor hotels won't help you in their French call centres - here in France, we speak only French. So you have to call the US call centre and pay the impossibly expensive international rates. And even then, the call centre can't help as the duty manager in Aix isn't back until after Easter, after the Easter holidays have come and gone and a pooless, playground less, sideways walking holiday has been enjoyed by all.

My tip, avoid Accor hotels entirely.

This hotel is ideally located for those using the motorway as it just on the outskirts of Aix in a developing trade area, although none of this is visible from the hotel. I didn’t find the motorway noise intrusive and couldn’t hear it at all from my room, which overlooked the attractive pool.

The room was mediocre (and could have been cleaner) but is typical of a Novotel and what I expected; it suited our needs and had a minibar which was very handy to store a drink. The air conditioning was very effective and conveniently quiet on the lowest setting.

The hotel highlights, in my opinion, were the excellent breakfast buffet, which I had prepaid for, and the facilities. Although the hotel grounds are compact (how do the photos make them look so vast?) they are utilised well, maintained to a good standard with the pool, table tennis, small net for badminton, patio with seating and abundant planting. Inside the lobby is an Xbox, children’s books and a few toys and seating.

When we stayed (July) there were a lot of young children staying at the hotel which could jar with the business clientele in peak holiday times, although the time we eventually got down to breakfast, the businessmen/women were long gone. I did witness a few businessmen trying to work on their laptops whilst children played next to them in the lobby though!

We did eat in the restaurant one evening which was the only disappointment. The staff appeared stressed and were very straight-faced although this may have been due to a full busload of tourists arriving who had just finished eating in the restaurant. Therefore, we were told to wait at a table, not offered a drink and sat for 40 minutes. The food, after an hours wait, was also rather disappointing. But I must point out that this service may have been influenced by the very large number of guests eating beforehand.

I would recommend this hotel if you don’t mind not staying in the centre of the lovely Aix and don’t mind (or have) young children during the holidays. I would definitely use it again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool, and at the south end - away from the motorway

We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay here. Nice spacious room facing the pool. The outdoor facilities were pretty and nice pool area. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It is a fair walk into town so two evenings we ate in the restaurant and found it to be very good food and well priced. If we were in Aix again would have no hesitation in staying once more.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the pool and gardens, also sunnier which I would recommend.
