“Cool morning but wonderful food tour”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

In spite of the cool day Jennifer provided a great insight into both Aix history and an introduction to some of the classic foods and wine of the region. Their is a good balance of history and samplings of pastries, cheese, coffee and wine, it is obvious Jennifer has developed an excellent relationship with the merchants in both the stores visited and the markets, which really adds to the value of the visit. The tour we were on was the Friday morning tour and we hope to take the market tour on a future visit. Overall, highly recommended.

“Nice Day Trip”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Aix-en-Provence is an interesting place to visit, and we happened to go there on market day, so there was much more to see. It was amazing, too, how quickly the area converted back to outdoor seating after the market was over. This is a nice area to walk around and sit in a sidewalk cafe and watch people walking by.

“Rustic, Bustling little old town with a character of its own”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Rustic little Old town not as well manicured as Avignon, its vintage look just add up to its charm and character. Do not miss the morning market and try the fresh goat cheese and delicious pickled olives !

“Aix en Provence”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

OK so we booked a tour of Aix en Provence, it sounded nice and we wanted to see a bit of France. Given the tree lined avenues on the way into the town first impressions were good, topped off with an impressive fountain and a market lining the pedestrian area we thought we had made a good choice. Our tour guide wired us up with radios and head phones and proceeded into the back streets of the town muttering that the people of Aix did not like to move forward or change and that if we needed a toilet there werent any unless we paid for a coffee in a cafe or bar. We visited the cathedral, and viewed lots of old mansion exteriors, walked straight past a local market, looked at an old fountain which wasnt working and then proceeded to the main pedestrian area where we were given 1 hours free time to wander. OK we found two nice little gift shops surrounded by a load of expensive designer clothes shops and cake shops filled with macaroons. The town didnt like Paul Cezane but they certainly want to profit from his paintings as they are on everything, magnets, posters, postcards, trays you name it. The fountain sits at the bottom of the market area and has some lovely statues, but watch yourself as you cross the roads, they do not adhere to the crossings and to be honest it felt like they aimed for you! We found a bar to use the toilet and my husband came out white as a sheet as he said a woman walked in whilst he was using the loo and attempted to wash her hands whilst he sat there! I shouldnt generalise but the people we dealt with in Aix were incredibly rude or very off hand. Shame really as the place if a little dirty was reasonably pretty. Please note if you use a wheelchair or are a little unsteady on your feet there are cobblestones rather than paviers in some places so consider this before visiting.

“Charming, busy with an atmosphere to enjoy”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Vieil Aix is the place to go. The architecture, the narrow streets, the small squares, the restaurants, the cafes, the boutiques, so many things we discovered and enjoyed every day that we spent in Aix.
Go there with out a map, turn right ... then turn left ... and feel the atmosphere. We did that every day and always ended up somewhere on a terrasse drinking a glass of wine. It was great.
